@Markmanson Disagree. When you're in the middle of changes everything is harder. It takes a long time for things to normalize again. It can be months of misery.
@Markmanson That's so interesting - I can't get ANYTHING done on a plane. The space is sooo small, and there's so many people around...distractions galore for me.
@mysteriouskat I think it comes most naturally when people are young. That doesn't mean older people can't be creative, but I think they often have to work harder at it instead of it just being something they can draw on at will.
@waitbutwhy This seems like a bad idea! We need darkness for sleep. We want to see the night sky. We need night-time to cool off the day's heat. I can see this causing some real awful effects...hope it never happens.
@mysteriouskat When I write to people, I try not to use AI because I think it's important that the words come from me. It may be messy and imperfect, but it came from ME (not a LLM). For entertainment though, I use AI to write story ideas...just for fun, and just for me.
@YakshaNZ@mysteriouskat@PeterMcCormack "They slipped back into Theater 8 like shadows.
Dad eased them down the aisle, whispering quick apologies to the knees they brushed past, then slid into his seat on the end by the aisle again."
@YakshaNZ@mysteriouskat@PeterMcCormack Here is part of the reply it gave me. I had previously specified that this group of people were sitting on the isle...and it did remember that, but the way it described it is:
@YakshaNZ@mysteriouskat@PeterMcCormack It's not that one then...it's $20 a month. Whatever that model is called. I've been using "deep thinking" mode on it.
@YakshaNZ@mysteriouskat@PeterMcCormack I told it that this group of people took isle seats in a movie theater, and it spat out a sentence about them apologizing as they moved past people's feet to take their seats on the isle.
@YakshaNZ@mysteriouskat@PeterMcCormack I've been using Chat GPT "pro". I've done both long and short chat sessions. Even in the short ones, I've seen some wild things! It sometimes makes me laugh. Even if you tell it how people are connected, it often forgets who knows what, dates, movement descriptions....
@imrtlsaij@mysteriouskat@PeterMcCormack Humans make mistakes...but LLM get basics wrong frequently. Sometimes in very funny ways. One said a person "kneeled by the sink in the kitchen" One thought a 14 year old could drive a car. lol! The more I use these, the more I realize these are just for entertainment right now.
@YakshaNZ@mysteriouskat@PeterMcCormack I don't know what counts as "hallucinating" but I'm using a paid "pro" model of a LLM and it gets SO much wrong. It can't remember basic facts about the situation that you give it in the same chat. It glitches on names, timelines, basic descriptions of items...
@mysteriouskat@PeterMcCormack Agreed. I've used AI enough now to realize that it is much less smart than I was lead to believe. It gets basic things wrong ALL the time.
@jamesmaslow I love routines, but I try not to count anything, because it takes the fun/enjoyment out of eating. So I don't have any "non-negotiables". My goal is to be: conscientious without being obsessive. Allow myself the pleasures of enjoyable foods without guilt.
