A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder in connection with a serious assault in Taunton this morning (Friday 4 July).

Officers were called to the incident in Castle Street by the ambulance service at around 6.35am.

We are appealing for information and potential witnesses after a group of youths has been reported for causing criminal damage in Taunton.

The incident happened in the early hours of Thursday 22 May in Saint Augustine Street.

A teenager has been arrested by officers investigating the fire in Taunton in which seven specially adapted minibuses were destroyed.

The 17-year-old boy was arrested yesterday (27 April) on suspicion of arson and remains in police custody.

A man was arrested yesterday after a car's windscreen was smashed in The Well, Rockwell Green.

We were called at 1.20pm and a man was arrested a short while later on suspicion of affray and criminal damage. He has since been released on bail.

He's said to be white, about 6ft, 50s/60s, with grey hair in a ponytail and a goatee. He had a black Labrador.

A 44-year-old woman has appeared in court charged with burglary.

Jane Butcher, of Triscombe Road, Taunton, was remanded after appeared at Taunton Deane Magistrates' Court, presiding at North Somerset Courthouse, yesterday (3 December).

Our anti-social behaviour and neighbourhood teams have been granted a three-month closure order on a Minehead flat linked to violence & drug crime, after working with residents.

The A371 Jack Whites Gibbet, in Bratton Seymour, Wincanton, is blocked this afternoon (Thursday 3 October) following a vehicle fire.

The road is closed northbound from Bratton Hill to Wincanton.

We are advising motorists to seek alternative routes.
