For You, Lord, are good, and ready to forgive,
And abundant in lovingkindness to all who call upon You...
There is no one like You among the gods, O Lord,
Nor are there any works like Yours....
For You are great and do wondrous deeds;
You alone are God.
Ps 86:5, 8, 10
"With [the tongue] we bless our Lord and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in the likeness of God...My brethren, these things ought not to be this way.
...the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy.."
James 3:9-10,17
@Plural_Prophet @ToFertileChurch He's the real deal, for sure. π But I think there are more like him who go unnoticed. They quietly lead little congregations of 50, 100, 150. No podcasts, blogs, or social media presence. Just faithfully shepherding their flocks and ministering in their communities.
@Plural_Prophet @ToFertileChurch He attends local city hall meetings and seeks to understand local issues and meet those in charge so he can vote wisely and responsibly. He prays often in church for our political leaders. He's the embodiment of compassion and intentional kindness and outreach.
@Plural_Prophet @ToFertileChurch My pastor? He and his wife have fostered, and when his health made that impossible, they switched to CASA. He's been involved in JDC ministries, supports the families in our church and his daughter who foster, and keeps these needs ever before our church. 1/2
"God Himself is the heartβs desire of those who delight in Him; and the blessedness of longing fixed on Him is that it ever fulfils itself. They who want God have Him. Your truest joy is in His fellowship and His grace."
-MacLaren on Psalm 37:4
@samstephens91 I remember the day I realized this about myself. I was practicing sign language, and when a certain sign was given, my brain thought "pop." It was kind of sad.
For just as we have many members in one body and all the members do not have the same function, so we, who are many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another.
