Saying a prayer today for everyone seeing family over the holidays who could care less about your job or your ministry or your full happy life but are deeply invested in whether you are married.
I am once again telling ya'll (and echoing many wise folks who've said it on here) that many youth are leaving church today not cause they are out there chasing "sin" but because they are seeking virtue, love, authenticity, & community, & they ain't finding it in churches.
I wish we would think of masks like a spiritual discipline: I am wearing a mask as a way to physically love my neighbor in a specific way, but also as a small act that, by the power of the Holy Spirit, might form me into someone who sacrifices much more for the sake of others.
Deconstruction is vital and necessary but it is a rest stop on your journey, not you final destination.
There is so much on the other side of dismantling & I'm saying this because some of you need to hear that it's time for you to build.
I'm gonna say a thing & it might hurt some of y'all's feelings but that's ok.
Deconstruction is not an identity, it is a state of being and functioning that some of you beloveds are dangerously attached to. It is not a forever place & at some point construction should be an aim.
