More cats and dogs are being euthanized in LA City shelters this year than last. This reality is heartwrenching, and frankly, avoidable. 

I’ve spent a lot of time over the past few months discussing the animal welfare crisis in our city with advocates and rescuers who do this work every day. What I hear again and again is that the number one thing LA must do to reduce euthanasia is address its root cause: animal overpopulation.
