Our relationships need to reflect the world we want to live in. Where our healing of wounds is transformative instead of prescriptive. Are we helping and lifting each other up to the best of our abilities?
@LaMontagneLab @AlbrechtS_H That they’ll be silent if anything like that happens to them too? Yeah. Their trainee will never trust them with information like that.
@LaMontagneLab I’m sorry you can’t be honest about that and still collaborate with others. The people who lose out on opportunities shouldn’t be those who have been targeted obviously, but those who have been cruel and inappropriate.
This #PrideMonth, it is important to recognize non-binary and gender nonconforming people have been here from the beginning of the U.S. Here is a thread on one of the most influential such persons in early America. An abolitionist minister known as The Public Universal Friend. 1/
@RxShare Hello Pharmacy friends! We are looking for more submissions to a book project that will discuss experiences of folks who are historically underrepresented in Pharmacy. We would love to read your stories: https://t.co/viHZF2gLie
@tressiemcphd I’d highly recommend Smiles by JB in Durham if you’re willing to drive this way. Dr Barton is awesome and this is the first all WOC dentist office I’ve been to. They take our UNC insurance too.
@OgLakyn@KelllyFish They’re the same people who think the speed limit is a suggestion. Driving like pedestrian streets are damn highways and putting kids and adults as well as animals in danger.
@michaelharriot That they split from the “first church” almost always about abolition. The same as the reason for the split of the Methodist Episcopal Church. Though I had wondered early on if this was a reference to second temple Judaism.
@PrueGildea@SarahJTracy I think in the US, shined is acceptable though less formal than shone. It’s interesting to see this discussion rather than a discussion about word choice in English. It could have said the writing was illuminating, competent, or novel.
@freegypsyrose in herself and worried that her parent(s) are disappointed too. And it seems like they probably are and also express this. Narcissistic parents can’t or won’t teach their kids how to process their emotions because they also can’t/won’t manage their own.
@freegypsyrose Kids don’t learn to manage their emotions out of nowhere. It’s taught. Seeing failure as an opportunity is learned through repeated supported effort in that area. I can guarantee this parent constantly shames this kid and asks why she didn’t do better and so she’s disappointed i
@VotePulver @ask_aubry But the treatment of his wife is absolute BS. As it the idea that a house is everything - it's just where he spends the most time. But what about the school districts? The south has horrible school funding. Fuck all that.
@VotePulver @ask_aubry It really sounds like this could have been solved by saving to add an addition or something. He's probably feeling cramped in the house as he works at home and then turned moving to another state into the only option because it was the first one presented to him.
THREAD. One of the biggest political scandals of our time is coming to a head today. Democratic leaders just announced they will vote with the far-right to overturn a democratically passed DC law. The story is important, and full of weird lies.
It hasn’t served anyone well except those currently in power and those who make graduate students work way too much for a small stipend to further their own scholarship publications.
A model that has served generations of graduate students well = a model that has produced a population of researchers significantly lacking women and people of color in many fields and in leadership - even though we have evidence that these folks produce more innovate research.
Duke University just released a statement voicing its opposition to the unionization efforts by the @dukegradunion.
"Ph.D. students are not admitted to do a job; they are selected because of their potential to be exceptional scholars," says interim provost Jennifer Francis.
