like you never want to be the one to say your assault was assault if you get me. i would not put my hand up for either because i would not feel comfortable comparing my situation to theirs.
in defense of all the women who refuse to treat their sexual assault as assault, for me it feels like lying to call my situations sexually coercive because of how much heavy and horrible sexual violence I've heard of from the women around me
“Gray area stuff” includes “I said ‘ow’ but he didn’t stop,” “I didn’t make him stop because I didn’t want to hurt his feelings, but it was obvious that I wasn’t into it,” and “He kept asking until he finally wore me down enough to just let him do it to get him to leave me alone”
like no when I'm talking to a bunch of engineers about fire safety systems and say "controller" I don't actually expect them to assume I'm talking about a video game controller. because why the fuck would they.
i think we should stop being obtuse and pretending we don't understand that when talking to different groups words mean different things.
in posts about leftist infighting the word "normal" does not mean "adhering to current fascist societal expectations".
why would people who are in many cases disabled or trans or otherwise marginalized use the word normal to mean cishet able-bodied people. have you seen some cishet able-bodied white people? they become red like a soviet flag at just the mention of pronouns — that is not normal
nowdays i find our about new internet personalities and influencers only when they get outed for being a pedo or a predator just like with church leaders
"this celebrity is actually a rapist" and then a clip of their content which is the most boring and unappealing video ever where they are doing nothing and maybe throw in some insanely revealing comment like "rape is good"
I promise yall don't have to be assholes to everybody you disagree with on social media. Especially when it's just over shit like music. And especially when you don't talk this way to strangers in real life.
me and my brother sometimes read comments under math-related wikipedia articles and they get VIOLENT
wikipedia is protected by the most passionate people in the world
you won't convince normies to be better by treating them like stupid children or evil murderers. and your goal as an activist/advocate should be to spread your message and enact societal change. so to be productive you should stop scaring the hoes.
why are people constantly being like "when you say weird and annoying mean contrarians should not be entertained you are talking about trans and disabled people"
no. trans and disabled people are not by default condescending or scolding or mean or contrarian to people.
the issue is people treating a minor transgression in someone's activism as literally murder instead of addressing it with the assumption that the person didn't actually intend to hurt them and can change their approach. you shouldn't immediately jump to vindictive behavior.
@ReluctantMSW@TonyPajama this post is literally explaining why we don't respect the people whose leftism comes from wanting to scream at and condescend well-meaning people instead of actually advocating for their rights
@SatinlikeShane@socialistadri randomly assuming that an openly pro-queer anti-ableist leftist means "cishet abled" when he says "normal" in his speech about condescending contrarians is so bad-faith it sounds incomprehensible to anyone who actually watched the clip
@SatinlikeShane@socialistadri thinking that hasan was calling queer disabled people is just not giving him any benefit of the doubt and interpreting him in bad faith, which were the things he called not being normal. the clip was literally about assuming good will and not immediately jumping to scolding
