@RobynDee32 The behaviour of Lively and Posey was utterly despicable & they should apologise. But, you can congratulate someone on a pregnancy without making an unsolicited comment about their body. Some women are sensitive about their stomachs/bumps in pregnancy & don't want body comments.
@darrellmaclaine Boy: white t-shirt, black shades, dark trousers or jeans up above the waist = Simon Cowell.
Girl: shirt/blouse, bit of ribbon/silk scarf/brooch around neck, any long skirt, black boots or school shoes, sash made out of white material with Votes for Women in sharpie = suffragette
She's rarely photographed without masks, even outdoors. Her speech suggests her life is ruled by anxiety. Terribly sad for a young woman who should be freely enjoying her life. What is going on with the Affleck & Anthony kids? They seem so unhappy & struggling with life. 2/2.
My health never fully recovered after glandular fever at 14 & after Covid recently I ended up with POTS, multiple organ damage & Long Covid & currently can't work. It's been devastating. That being said, I'm genuinely worried about the state of Violet Affleck's mental health 1/2
@sarahbeeny As a lecturer, I agree about lost young people but FUNDING YOUTH SERVICES is the answer, not using them as free labour. Think about it. It's not all jolly good "digging for victory" & making old dears' smile. It's forced military service or taking away weekend paid work hours.
@sarahbeeny It's already hard enough for young people to get started in life, especially those who don't have parental help. Using them as free labour will affect their earning potential, lead to postponing careers and education, make it harder to get on the property ladder...it's harmful.
@stefanroberts I worked in a school he visited...I've never heard the word twat muttered under staffs' breaths so much as I did that day. I quit school teaching not long after to become a lecturer. His appalling legacy of failing both educators & children remains to this day. Worst Ed Sec ever.
@LeeDavidEvansUK I'm a lecturer. My 18 year old students HAVE to work EVERY weekend to afford university. Loans do not cover their expenses, just fees. The poorest students will be harmed by this out of touch policy. Some 18 year olds also live independently & have children to support, by the way.
@neverunderesti8@implausibleblog It's skewed given the WC background of my students and the fact we're Arts/Humanities faculty but all of my lot hate the Tories! But the Tories aren't aiming at the young vote. It's the pensioners they want to turn out for them. Or they REALLY want to commit political suicide!
@mumzles1@neverunderesti8@implausibleblog It WON'T work. For employers of students it's a logistical nightmare. For students who NEED to work to afford study, they will be forced to take a year out of education to do the military service. What about 18 year olds who are parents? A policy which harms poorer young adults.
@neverunderesti8@implausibleblog Meanwhile, the kids of wealthier parents who can bankroll them have the easier option of volunteering once a month. Not fair. Although I'm opposed to ANY unpaid labour and think National Service should be voluntary or stay in the past where it belongs.
@neverunderesti8@implausibleblog It's a great point. I'm a lecturer at a university with a strong committment to Widening Participation. All of my students are working class. They all need to work every weekend to afford to study & live. They'd have no choice but to be conscripted to the military for a year.
@jameswassell@neverunderesti8@implausibleblog Tell me you didn't go to private school without telling me you didn't go to private school 😂😂😂. Also tell me you aren't Catholic without telling me you aren't Catholic. It's Latin. Pater & Mater = Father & Mother. Root of the word Paternity etc.
@michaeljswalker The alternative of being a year's COMPULSORY military service. Jack, who wants to go to uni but has no financial help & will have to work EVERY weekend will have no choice but to be cannon fodder. Meanwhile Hugo's parents can bankroll him so he gets to plant trees once a month.
@michaeljswalker As a lecturer, it's controversial because it's insanely out of touch. Most 18 year olds HAVE to work weekends to afford tuition, rent, cost of living. Should adults be forced to give up paid employment which will help them survive for a weekend every month to do unpaid labour?
@larrymeath I am a lecturer...it's so clear to me that Rishi Sunak has not got a clue about young peoples' lives these days. I have to deal with self harm/suicidal ideation most weeks...and these are students who WANT to be here. They also desperately need to work weekends to live. #dickmove
The community weekend idea is equally poorly thought out. 100% of my students work weekends. And nights. And any days they don't have lectures. They need to afford rent, fees, food, bills, save for a deposit etc. They can't afford to spend their weekends not earning. Get real.
Any other educators laughing their heads off at #NationalService idea for 18 year olds? Have the Tories MET any young ppl recently. I'm a lecturer. 75% of my students are crippled by anxiety & poor mental health. Forcing them to join the military is insane. They'd
rather die 1/2
