The monster hit that the Sierra snowpack needs is arriving tonight and continuing through Friday. There will be some breaks but their will be 2 peaks to this event: One on Wednesday morning and the other on Thursday, but frankly the event is continuous. This could create crippling travel during this time over passes and summits. SNOW, HEAVY RAIN AND WIND will all be featured statewide at various times. Snow levels will drop rapidly on Wednesday with snow rates up to 3 inches PER HOUR or more. This will create major impacts to travel.
Lake Oroville has come up 22 FEET in the last 7 days.
Bottom line is whether its elevation snow and wind or rain and thunderstorms below snow level, you need to get in place by tonight and not plan to leave till Saturday once the storm exits the state. Be safe all.
