In researching the new Type Ia Supernova in NGC-7331, I learned something quite troubling about how new discovery info is disseminated to the global astro community. The Astronomer's Telegram is updated & a broadcast email is published about the event to all who are subscribed.

My question is why did the @IAU_org choose the Weizmann Institute? Granted, it is understandable that any custodial service of this nature be reliable, robust, secure and dependable, but of all the possibilities, why did the IAU board choose them?
