So that they have allies and a defense in 5-10 years when the anti-trust lawsuits come after they’ve put Uber, Lyft, Waymo and every cab company out of business. Tesla can still retain 100% of the profits of 80% of the business and have tens of thousands of partners helping with the surge times. It would be stupid not to, and Tesla wouldn’t be where they are if they were stupid. They know how to play the game.
@entercode27@Teslaconomics Those who figure this out, and do so cost-effectively, vs those who don’t, will be the difference between success and failure.
I think they could face antitrust lawsuits if they own it end-to-end. If they allow a bunch of small businesses and even individuals with a car or 2 they want to put into the system to help offset the surge times they get an army of partners and an automatic built-in defense against an antitrust lawsuit. It would be a fatal political mistake not to open it up. @elonmusk and @Tesla have certainly thought this through. It’s not a matter of if, it’s just a matter of how long do we have to wait to participate?
@elonmusk@elonmusk and yet I can’t get Grok to do a simple map overlay. So far, I’m not impressed. As someone who works with maps on a daily basis, this would be super useful. Is this something y’all can work on improving?
@john_toher@teslaownersSV This is why Model Y, Model YL and CyberTruck will all be RoboTaxi options as well. You don’t think Tesla has thought this through?
