At the @IDRC_CRDI panel discussion yesterday, speakers from IDRC-supported work compared and contrasted what mature versus diffused and new civic spaces look like, drawing on their work with indigenous women in Thailand, Myanmar's diaspora, and displaced migrants in the region.
Asylum Access Thailand (#AAT) held training on the National Screening Mechanism (#NSM) for staff, #paralegals, and the Refugee-Led Network on August 10. This session empowered participants to better support refugees needing protection in Thailand.

Our PFA project empowers refugees to lead psychosocial activities in their community. These activities are facilitated by PFA volunteers who are refugees themselves and have created their own agendas based on their skills and understanding of the community. #RefugeeEmpowernment

Concerns were raised about “How the existing legal framework still criminalizes irregular migration by requiring NSM applicants to be prosecuted for immigration charges before they are eligible to apply for protection from refoulement."
