Plasma stoves are great for viral reels.
But have zero practical use case in real life.
Here's the math:
A plasma stove costs around INR 25k to 30k in China (~50k in India).
An induction stove costs 3k to 5k retail price in india
that’s a 10x delta
A plasma stove uses 2 to 3.5 units/hour.
Daily cooking takes 30 to 90 mins.
That is 1 to 4+ units for the same food.
And it is not even efficient.
Plasma loses energy as heat, light, and air.
Real efficiency is 40-60%.
Induction gives 85-90%.
Same food but much less power.
This is the real problem:
You pay extra to waste your own power.
And this the problem with these gimmicky products.
They look cool.
But they do not make sense.
If we want real change, we need to think practical.
Swadeshifying is not about fancy tech.
It is about what works for millions of homes.
It’s about what stops multi millions dollars of imports
We need to think about:
- What people will buy?
- What saves money every day?
- What runs without problems?
Because scale does not come from hype.
It comes from things that work daily.
Fix the basics first.
Real change will follow.

Hope conviction of the police officials acts as a detterant for other rowdy police officers who engage in such acts. Its is sad that the Magistrate and doctor who also deserve conviction escaped. If they were also convicted, it can act as a warning for others in lower judiciary and government hospitals doctors.some of whom play hand in glove in such police torture cases.
We see cheap plastic and instantly say “Chinese item.”
But every time I visit the US, I pick up die-cast metal cars for my kid priced at just $12–15 (₹1,000–1,200). Solid metal, superb quality, amazing finish and detailing.
And guess what? They’re made in China.
The real problem isn’t China.
Indian importers bring in the cheapest possible stuff and then sell it at premium prices here. For ₹1,000 in India, you end up with junk toys.

The biggest problem in India is that there is absolutely no credible deterrence for govt servants to make them think twice before abusing their power and maliciously approving things which can actually kill people
An average Indian govt employee has zero fear for approving things that they have no business approving.
They can approve medicines that they know are are unfit for human consumption and can prove lethal. They can approve facilities, where an average person won't make rat poison, to make life saving drugs.
And they do all of this with the firm knowledge that if they are ever caught, which is rare because they will always find a scapegoat, all they will get is a suspension (read paid holiday) for a few days, then business will resume, they will even get their promotion and 37 years later, if found guilty by our courts, a fine of Rs 50.
So what can we do?
In this regard, let's drop our ego and learn from China. Because 20 years ago, they went thru the exact same scandal.
In 2006, a company called Qiqihar No. 2 Pharmaceutical Co, used make an injectable drug called Armillarisin A. This was a common drug that was used to treat stuff like fever, cold etc.
It was a commonly prescribed injection back in China for a quick cure from fever. I guess people used them to get back to work quickly, else the companies would dock pay. I mean China didn't become a manufacturing juggernaut just like that no.
But I digress.
This drug had an ingredient called Glycerine, which as research suggests, is used as a solvent, stabilizer humectant or as a sweetener in medicines. The sweetener property is majorly used in cough syrups. (Note this point)
Usually Glycerine is available at about $1500 or Rs 1.3 Lakhs per metric ton.
Which sometimes is a little expensive for pharma companies
So some fraudulent pharma companies, use a substitute which is available at 1/3rd the price of Pharmaceutical glycerine.
It is called Diethylene glycol (DEG).
DEG looks like Glycerine, walks like Glycerine, talks like glycerine, but isn't glycerine. It is in fact the bang opposite of Glycerine.
Because, unlike Glycerine which is used in medicines, DEG is used in brake fluids and antifreeze.
If you have ever read your car manual, they explicitly tell you not to drink brake fluids. Because if you do, the DEG will annihilate your kidney and you will die.
If Glycerine is Nelson Mandela, then DEG is Osama Bin Laden. And you don't go near Osama Bin Laden.
Unfortunately Qiqihar No. 2 Pharmaceutical Co went near it. In fact they swiped DEG right on Tinder and Netflix and Chilled with them.
To save a few pennies, they used DEG instead of Glycerine in their injections and sent it out to the market. And doctors in Guangzhou and Annhui provinces used this batch.
Predictably within a days patients started dropping dead. In Annhui 10 people died, most of them above 60 years of age. Then in Guangzhou, 62 people were given this injection of whom 13 died. Dozen others were hospitalized.
Quickly it became a major scandal in China. People started losing trust over their pharma body. There was fear of bad medicine and it had nothing to do with Bon Jovi. They feared for their lives.
So the govt started investigating quickly. And by quickly I mean quickly, because there are no 3 member panels with retired judges heading such inquiries.
They realized that, with the existing standards, there was no way this batch of injections should have reached the market. So they started investigating the officials of the State Food and Drug Administration (SFDA) responsible for clearing this kind of stuff.
Turns out they had actually taken bribes from Qiqihar to approve those drugs. Quality tests had been falsified and sometimes entirely skipped because they had opened a special green channel of approval.
They quickly realized the bribery trail went all the way up to the head of the SFDA - a certain Mr Zheng Xiaoyu.
They found that 1998 and 2005, Zheng and his subordinates had accepted bribes from over 20 pharmaceutical companies, amounting to 6.49 million yuan (U$ 850,000 or close to Rs 8 Cr). He had taken bribes in the form of fees, gifts, donations, trips by his wife and son and a host of other innovative methods that would make an Indian govt servant proud.
He had, in effect established a culture of cash for approvals, which many Chinese companies misused.
In Feb 2007, the Chinese govt arrested Zheng.
He was then suspended from his duties for six months and when the heat died down, he was reinstated and he retired and lived happily ever after in a foreign country with all his money.
Because that's what happens in India.
But this didn't happen in India. It happened in China. There they do things differently.
In Apr 2007 his trial started.
In May 2007 he was sentenced to death for bribery, dereliction of duty and endangering public health
In June 2007 his appeal for mercy was denied.
On July 10, 2007, he was executed by lethal injection.
Not only that, they permanently shut down the Qiqihar No. 2 Pharmaceutical Co and reorganized the entire SFDA. Not only that re certified all 200000 drugs sold in China, made mandatory clinical trial data and created a national adverse drug reaction (ADR) database
And on deep research, I haven't found any drug scandal post that in China.
In India, everyone who is arrested will be out on bail within 30 days. No Govt official will ever be harmed, and things will be back to normal within 60 days and the wait for the next children deaths will begin.
Because in India we don't have deterrence. And in such cases, only deterrence will work.
P:S: I am not saying whoever approved this batch and factory should be executed. But the least we should do is try them for murder. Because that is what they have done.
P:P:S: In case you think DEG sounds familiar and I had asked you to note one point. Well it is.
Because it is the exact thing that has caused the death of 22 innocent children in MP.
Now in China when DEG killed people, they executed the guy responsible for its clearance. Unfortunately in India, his counterpart, most likely will be promoted
