A5 I think it is just the lack of curriculum and expertise by many educators and/or schools. While I teach 1:1 and am immersed in technology every day, fellow peers at other schools don't even have working projectors. This divide just increases the skills gap. #EdTechUSFMets
A3 Absolutely! When students are encouraged to problem solve, they are acquiring lifelong skills. In the workplace, you have to think for yourself and make educated decisions based on experience. This is exactly what we want to help our students with! #EdTechUSFMets
A4: I struggle with this question. For the most part, I feel yes. I ask my students to problem solve and have them work with new tools to discover features and implementations. Most rock at PBLs! Then, I have those students that don't know how to reset a password. #EdTechUSFMets
A3 Using technology goes beyond just opening a device. Educators need to enforce digital citizenship and transform a learning environment to incorporate a more challenging learning environment supported by tech. skills that are needed in our workforce! #EdTechUSFMets
A2 I feel that students are at a disadvantage when they are behind in tech. I teach at a community college as well, and there are adults that are severely behind who don't even know how to use Word or PPT. This makes learning more challenging for them. #EdTechUSFMets
A2 Educators have to differentiate for those who don't have the tech. at home. I am lucky enough to work in a district that has 1:1 devices, but even then some students don't have internet. It's all about creating in-class environments that support students. #EdTechUSFMets
@miss_oreilly@Seesaw So many of my elementary teacher friends have raved about @Seesaw , but I've never heard of it being used at the 9-12 level. What are the main features that you are having your students use? :)
A1 Hello, my name is Jessica Bantz. A new tool I started using was Insert Learning, which is a Chrome extension. I really like how I'm able to embed comprehension questions into any webpage or online article. #EdTechUSFMets
The last statement of "The Well" was what made me like it, but I'm not sure I like it as an exemplar of good story telling. I listen to many podcasts and coach my school's speech team; the inflection during this clip is not what I am used to in terms of engagemnet. #edtechusf677
I felt the final statement of "The Well" was the best part of the audio clip. It was inspiring and really left you thinking about the story. However, I did have to listen to the clip twice. While short, there was a lack of a hook for engagement. #edtechusf677
ALWAYS giving students the resource of an audio version of a text is essential in providing differentiation to different types of learners and students with various backgrounds. Knowing they have that option can provide accountability, independence, and confidence! #edtechusf677
I love using audio technology such as @AdobeSpark for students who have anxiety about speaking in front of the classroom. They have the opportunity to be engaged in their learning and showcase their knowledge without the stress of public speaking. #edtechusf677
@2017Room204 Isn't it crazy how something as simple as audio can change reading habits?! I've seen it enhance reading confidence just because students are able to hear someone speaking while reading. Such an easy classroom implementation that I forget is right at our fingertips! #edtechusf677
@1J_Georgetown Not only are they able to be more comfortable, but they are also able to playback and listen to themselves, which is a valuable learning opportunity! Being able to listen to yourself speak in a different language helps refine speaking and learn from mistakes. :) #edtechusf677
