Most people are surprised when they hear I went from professional football to green chemistry.
But to me, it was a natural transition. ⚽️👨🏽‍🔬

Growing up in the south of France, I was surrounded by nature and the sea from an early age. As my football career progressed, so did my awareness of global warming and the impact that different industries have on the environment and on our health.

The products most of us use every day, from shampoos to cleaning products to paints, are still built on fossil-based ingredients. Changing that became my mission.🌱

In 2013, I co-founded GFBiochemicals to make everyday products safer and more sustainable using plant-based ingredients.

Football prepared me for this journey more than I expected the discipline, the resilience, and what it truly means to be part of a team. But there is an important shift: as a player, you’re judged on your own performance. As a founder & CEO, your role is to lead and inspire your team, and to share success together.

I spoke with Harvard Business Review France about my journey: the transition from international footballer to Green Chemistry entrepreneur, the challenge of building in a sector I came to as an outsider.

They taught their children that World War II was a war between good and evil.

And America won.

So in the deepest layer of the American psyche, there is this foundational equation:

America = the side that wins the wars against evil.

Every subsequent war got loaded into that equation.

Korea. Vietnam. Gulf War. Iraq. Afghanistan.

Each one was presented, at the beginning, with the same moral architecture.

The same clarity of purpose.

The same enemy who needed to be stopped.

And when the wars turned out to be complicated, when the reasons turned out to be false, when the conduct turned out to be criminal, when the outcomes turned out to be catastrophic, the equation couldn't be revised.

Because the equation is not really about the wars.

The equation is about the identity.

You cannot tell Americans that Vietnam was a war crime without implying that America is capable of war crimes, which implies that America is not automatically the good side, which collapses the foundational equation, which leaves an entire civilization's self-understanding without a floor.

This is not a political disagreement.

This is an existential threat to a constructed self.

And people defend their constructed selves with the same ferocity they defend their lives.

Sometimes more.

According to Francis Ford Coppola, The Godfather is not really a story about the Mafia, but a story about American capitalism and succession. This is something he realized early on when reading Mario Puzo’s book for the second time…

"Upon that second reading, much of the book fell away in my mind, revealing a story that was a metaphor for American capitalism in the tale of a great king with three sons: the oldest was given his passion and aggressiveness, the second his sweet nature and childlike qualities, and the third, his intelligence, cunning, and coldness. Suddenly I saw the story as one of succession of power."

What he discovered was that the same three qualities that made Vito so formidable as a mafia boss - his aggression, his compassion, his strategic cunning - were unevenly distributed amongst his three sons, and their fatal flaw was that each son had a deficit of the other two qualities.

Sonny embodied Vito’s passion and impulsive aggression, which led to his violent and short-lived leadership. Fredo reflected Vito’s familial warmth but lacked strength, resulting in his weakness and ultimate betrayal. And Michael inherited Vito’s most powerful quality, his calculated, strategic intelligence - which propelled him to power but ultimately left him cruel, heartless - and estranged him from his family.

This “king-and-three-sons” concept became the unifying principle, and it influenced almost every decision that went into making the film.

It was through this central concept that Coppola was able to tell a story - not just about the mafia - but about America, and its relationship with capitalism. And this becomes ever clearer when you look at each son more closely. (1/5)

The way you frame this hides where the real scam actually is.

The West spent centuries looting the world, blowing up states, and sucking talent in.

Now that the bill is arriving, suddenly "mass immigration was always a scam."

Who created half the refugees in the first place?

Iraq, Libya, Syria, Afghanistan, Latin America, Africa... those people did not wake up one day and say:

"Let me destabilize the West for fun."

They were running from wars, coups, sanctions, debt and climate chaos made in Washington, London, Paris and Brussels.

Mass immigration was not a plan to destabilize the West.

It was a side effect of the West destabilizing everyone else.

On top of that, your own elites loved it.

They wanted cheap labor with no power.

They wanted doctors and engineers trained in the Global South to plug gaps in their own aging societies.

They wanted migrants they could blame when the system started cracking.

Now that the social fabric is strained, the same class that opened the borders for profit points at the people at the bottom and screams "invasion."

China is different for a simple reason:

it did not spend the last 50 years carpet bombing half the planet, wrecking currencies, and then pretending to be shocked when people flee.

It did its industrialization at home, with its own population, under its own control.

So it does not need to dress up demographic panic as some moral drama about refugees.

Larry Fink saying "countries that avoided mass immigration will be better positioned" is not an anti-immigration epiphany.

It is a quiet confession:

The model where the West lives off imported labor, imported brains, and imported resources is breaking down.

Blaming refugees is the most cowardly way to avoid saying that out loud.

So no, mass immigration was not "a scam to destabilize the West."

The West destabilized itself by building an empire instead of a society.

Now it is angry that the edges of that empire are walking back through the front door.

The CPC Hustle: How a Fake Genocide Became Capitol Hill’s Favorite ATM

Washington, D.C. – It’s 2025, and the hottest ticket on the Hill isn’t a bipartisan infrastructure bill or a TikTok ban. It’s the Nigerian Genocide Narrative™, freshly dusted off, repackaged, and ready for prime-time grift. The pitch is simple: scream “genocide,” wave a blurry video of bandits on motorbikes, and watch the dollars rain down like manna from a Pentagon budget line nobody reads.

The man with the megaphone? Donald Trump, who on October 31 redesignated Nigeria a “Country of Particular Concern” (CPC) for religious freedom, claiming Christians face “mass slaughter” at the hands of “radical Islamists.” The man with the motive? Not in the Oval Office. He’s in a Georgetown townhouse, sipping overpriced coffee with a Rolodex.

In 2020, Trump’s first CPC tag stuck for a hot minute. Aid got frozen. Headlines blazed. Then Biden took office, read the actual State Department reports, and quietly lifted the designation. Why? Because the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) couldn’t find the genocide with a GPS and a prayer chain. Violence in Nigeria’s north? Real. Targeted extermination of Christians? Not in the data. Bandits kill farmers. Farmers fight back. Muslims die. Christians die. Traditionalists die. The only pattern is poverty, not prophecy.

The hustlers panicked. Their “humanitarian” NGOs registered in Delaware, operated from WhatsApp saw funding dry up. One consultant reportedly sold his Range Rover. Another had to fly economy to Abuja. Tragedy.

Enter 2025. Trump’s back. Truth Social is popping. And suddenly, the genocide is existential again. The same grainy clips from 2018 resurface, now with dramatic music.

Behind the scenes, the hustle is surgical.
Step 1: Leak a “report” to friendly think tanks. Cite “thousands killed” without dates, locations, or names.
Step 2: Book a fact-finding trip. Five-star hotels. Per diem. Instagram selfies with “survivors” who are actually the hotel concierge.
Step 3: Trigger the Religious Freedom Industrial Complex. Evangelicals donate. Congress allocates. The money flows to “security training,” “awareness campaigns,” and “administrative costs” (read: a condo in Dubai).

The Numbers Don’t Lie (But the Hustlers Do)

Nigeria’s population: ~50% Muslim, ~50% Christian.
Annual violence deaths: ~8,000–10,000 (UN estimates).
Victims by religion: Roughly proportional to population.
CPC funding pipeline (2020–2021): $47 million in “religious freedom” grants.
Amount reaching actual victims: [redacted for comedic effect].

The Nigerian government that is flawed, chaotic, but not stupid responds with a diplomatic middle finger. “This is banditry, not blasphemy,” says the Foreign Ministry. “We’ve neutralized 3,000 terrorists this year. Half were Muslim. Where’s their CPC?”

Let’s be clear: Nigeria has problems. Boko Haram is evil. Herder-farmer clashes are deadly. Corruption eats aid. But turning a national crisis into a sectarian cash cow helps no one except the middlemen with American passports and Nigerian accents.

The irony? The loudest voices screaming “genocide” have never buried a cousin in Maiduguri. They’re too busy burying the truth under donor decks. Their real religion isn’t Christianity or Islam—it’s capitalism. And their holy sacrament? The earmark.

1. Demand data. Not vibes. Not viral videos. Actual body counts, verified by the UN or African Union.
2. Follow the money. Every “NGO” getting CPC cash should publish receipts. Down to the last bottle of Evian.

Until then, the CPC hustle rolls on. Same script. New season. Same losers: the dead, the displaced, and anyone who still believes Washington cares about Africa for any reason other than leverage, lithium, or lobbyists.

Call it what it is: not genocide. Just good old-fashioned greed, dressed up in a dashiki and a cross.

No faith required. Just facts.
