For me, Twitter as never been about a former president. Twitter enlarges my view of the world, allows me to hear personal stories first hand, and engage with others on my own terms. I also enjoy the pet pictures.
This week’s main story is about deep-sea mining, whether it’s worth doing, and what John has in common with Henry Kissinger (unrelated, but still important to note).
Thank you, John Oliver, for your wonderful, long-form piece covering Deep Sea Mining and why we should not move forward with it. The facts, combined with some appropriate, scathing wit, was welcome to the debate. (Episode 14, available this week on HBO Max)

As someone who has taken thousands of photos of the Key Bridge and the marine traffic coming and going into the Port of Baltimore, it is a tragic day for the region. Here is one of my favorite photos of the Key Bridge at sunset from a few years ago.

We’re in our *3rd* post-lockdown viral respiratory season and admissions for viral resp illness+pneumonia are 6 standard deviations above the historical average. I do not understand how so many reasonable people haven’t figured out that the “immunity debt” scapegoat is disinfo.🧵
“Whenever I’m about to do something, I think ‘Would an idiot do that?’ and if they would, I do not do that thing.” – Dwight Schrute
And what is the best way to spot an idiot? Look for the person who is cruel.
