@RestIsPolitics@RoryStewartUK@campbellclaret Bank of England Independence was a key New Labour policy and yet did not appear in their manifesto. What is the protocol regarding big policies which don't appear in manifestos and how can parties justify them? I understand that wars, pandemics etc can't be predicted.
Huge congratulations to my successor as Musical Director of Cheltenham Choral Society, Thomas Mottershead. I feel sure the choir - who I always miss dearly - will be in excellent hands.
@RoryStewartUK@RestIsPolitics A very sad state of affairs. It would, however, be interesting to see a parallel graph, plotting the accessibility of the MRI and CT machines to the general population. I wonder whether Japan and the US might come out so well on such a graph?
Ellie Martin and William Stevens will be the wonderful soloists for our performance of the Brahms Requiem in Llandaff Cathedral on 25th March. We are really looking forward to hearing them. Please join us: tickets are available from Ticketsource at

2/2 …the group is to be abolished. I have been standing by some of the musicians’ memorials in Westminster Abbey wondering what Elgar, Walton, Howells, Britten, Boult and others would have made of this news. We must not return to being ‘the land without music.’
Respect to Ardern for resigning at the time of her choosing rather than being the classic politician, outstaying their welcome. Thanks for your level headedness and for redesigning what being a leader in the modern world looks like.

12 years of Tory rule has made the UK the most regionally unequal economy in Europe.
To build prosperity and tackle poverty across the whole UK, we need to change not just who governs but how we are governed.
We need genuine political reform.

@mrjoelclark Goodness, what a glorious prediction! I always assumed the LDs would be main contenders here - let's hope they and the Greens put up paper candidates and do the right thing ...
