Sons worrying about their father’s health is fair. Cricketers asking for humane treatment are right. Nothing against them.

But Sky and @Athersmike should also say why he is in jail. #ImranKhan has been convicted in the Toshakhana state-gifts cases and the Al-Qadir Trust case, land linked to the £190m returned from the UK over billionaire Malik Riaz.

The May 2023 cases are still before anti-terror courts after his arrest, #PTI supporters attacked military sites, including GHQ and the Lahore Corps Commander’s house, which was burned.

Imran Khan’s sons’ media campaign is deeply unfortunate. Cricket, the gentleman’s game, should never be used as a platform to lobby for a convicted prisoner.

Media organisations have a responsibility to maintain balance and avoid becoming vehicles for political narratives. If false or misleading claims have been broadcast, they should be corrected.

Sky News should apologise to cricket fans if its platform was used to promote unverified or misleading propaganda. Michael Atherton should also clarify his position if his comments created the impression that a person’s cricketing achievements place them above accountability.

Imran Khan’s sister has publicly stated that he is fit and well. If that is the case, it raises legitimate questions about claims suggesting otherwise. Public debate should be based on verified facts rather than political narratives.
