@Tina22_2@elonmusk@america What about some kind of wearable that will immobilize them if they trying to do anything bad. We could arm law-abiding citizens with a trigger that could engage the device, perhaps just an audio command to your phone that then sends a signal to the device.
@PeterDiamandis People sitting in classrooms has been the biggest misallocation of time and talent and labor basically since school was invented. People need to be working as apprentices in labs and shops and on jobsites to learn real skills in order to contribute anything useful to the world.
@flowersslop What we call "AI" doesn't understand anything. It's a library, a tool.
Libraries aren't smart, and Chess engines don't know how to play chess; they're just chess engines.
@Polymarket DEI is the idea that in order to not be racist, you must be racist.
The only thing you need to do to not be racist is to not be racist. True anti-racism is passive, not active.
@DaveShapi Programming is changing, but that's not going to replace the engineer. The engineer's job is to get the machine to do what they want it to. Doesn't matter if they use Python or C or English. They supply ideas and use tools to craft outputs and enable others to do so.
@DaveShapi Are there a limited number of things to do?
Most jobs today are unnecessary. The number of unnecessary jobs will simply increase until the last job left, which everyone will be doing, is "preference indicator" or "user"
@dwarkesh_sp Caveat: I do think there is value in seeing a conversation thread that has been generated between a thinker and a chatbot. If done well, it can be like watching an accomplished craftsman do his work. It is instructive about how to use a particular tool. How do you drive your LLM?
@dwarkesh_sp Chatting with LLMs is great, but presenting me with LLM generated text, really for any reason, is rude and inconsiderate. If you put in any effort at all, you should be able to say the same thing in a much denser and compact form. It's like, just get to the point already.
@BigBrainBizness@BreneBrown You need a curriculum and instructor for maths and hard sciences. The other stuff you can and should do on your free time, or you could take them as electives while you're doing your engineering degree. No one needs a B.A. We should eliminate them altogether.
@dwarkesh_sp I think life is springing up all the time. It's weird to me that some lineages are so cumulative and complex while others seem relatively simple and static. Basically why are there bugs and humans? Why aren't more species more intelligent?
@KatieMiller I think we're witnessing a kind of speciation event, novel and unique, in which subsets of men and women, aided by technology, diverge and become something unto themselves, no longer needing the other to perpetuate and proliferate.
@XFreeze It's surprising how bad "entertainment" is across the board right now. I can't really even hate-watch anything created in the last 5 years. There's no art for art's sake anymore. It's all just woke garbage propaganda shit-slop. What do you do if you have even an ounce of taste?
