🍷🫀 Amazing news from the internet concerning Wine
Apparently wine is now:
👉 cardioprotective
👉 anti-inflammatory
👉 longevity-enhancing
👉 basically liquid resveratrol with a cork.
Meanwhile… the actual paper says something much less sexy:
👉 alcohol is NOT healthy.
Yes, the authors discuss:
- polyphenols
- Mediterranean patterns
- meal context
- moderation
…but they are also very clear:
👉 prevention should focus on:
- diet quality
- blood pressure
- weight
- lipids
- glycaemia
—not on drinking wine “for the heart.”
Translation:
your Barolo is not a statin.
Sorry.
The paper basically says:
👉 if you already drink moderately,
👉 with meals,
👉 without contraindications,
👉 without binge drinking,
…risk might be acceptable in selected individuals.
Which is VERY different from: “wine is healthy.”
Because ethanol remains ethanol.
The liver unfortunately does not care whether it came from:
🍷 Burgundy
🍺 beer
🥃 whisky
or “organic biodynamic volcanic natural wine aged in amphora under moonlight.”
My take
Modern wellness culture has an incredible ability to transform:
❌ “possibly less harmful in context”
into:
👉 “superfood.”
⚡ The Mediterranean diet was never:
“drink more wine.”
It was:
👉 move more
👉 eat better
👉 stay lean
👉 share meals
👉 don’t smoke
👉 don’t binge drink
A slightly less marketable message.

trial of an mRNA tumor vaccine shows that 7/8 patients with pancreatic cancer, who mounted an immune response to the vaccine, are still alive 6 years later. This is breathtaking data and shows the promise of mRNA vaccines. https://t.co/J1kDmMRZQY

A low-cost and expert-driven medical technology is being used in rural areas in Australia!
The machine is operated by a sonographer remotely (using a gaming controller) and helps perform an ultrasound examination.
Doctor shortages shouldn't mean that patients have to travel more (sometimes for no medical reason), but to use technologies that can extend the reach of medical care.
This is a perfect example of that!
The combination of GLP-1 drugs (such as Ozempic) and healthy lifestyle factors was associated with less major adverse cardiovascular events in ~100,000 people with T2D
