hi, i'm zel, though most people here know me as hizel.

while reading everyone's stories, i found myself getting emotional.

ironically, the funniest story i can share is also the one that changed my life the most.

i was fortunate enough to win $5,000 before, and honestly, i thought it was fake at first. i couldn't believe it until the money was actually there. it felt so unreal.

that blessing came at a time when i truly needed it. it helped me get through school, gave me some breathing room, allowed me to buy the things i needed to feel more confident, helped me support my family, and even gave me the opportunity to help other people whenever i could. because of that opportunity, i'm now about to graduate, yehey 🎉

but here's the part that stays with me the most 😔

my mom never asked for any of it. instead, she wanted every peso to go toward my future. she always chose me before herself, just like she always has.

that's why, if i were given another chance to receive $5,000, i wouldn't spend it on myself this time.

i would give it to my MOM.

she deserves the retirement she's always put off while making sure i could chase my dreams. after everything she's sacrificed for our family, i want her to finally experience what it feels like to be the one taken care of.

winning once changed my life. winning again would let me change hers.
