Here is a man who once rang a New York newspaper under a fake name to tell them how extraordinarily wealthy he was. Not because he needed anything. Not because there was a point to be made. Simply because the silence in his own head had become unbearable without someone, anyone, confirming that he existed and that he was tremendous.

Donald Trump is, by any reasonable measure, the most catastrophically self-regarding human being ever to be handed the nuclear codes. And I have met some truly spectacular idiots in my time. I once watched a man try to overtake a lorry on a blind corner in a Robin Reliant. Trump makes that man look like a careful, considered intellectual.

The thing about genuinely dangerous people is that they are usually more threatening to their friends than their enemies. Trump has torched more alliances, betrayed more loyalists and humiliated more supporters than any foreign adversary could dream of.

He opened Pandora’s box across the Middle East with the casual confidence of someone who has never actually read about the Middle East. Or anything else, for that matter. The plan, as far as anyone could tell, was to fly in, rearrange the furniture and leave with a deal so beautiful it would make your eyes water. What actually happened is what always happens when a man with no knowledge and no patience tries to solve a problem that has been fermenting since before America existed.

Almost a billion people in allied nations looked at what was happening and reached the same conclusion simultaneously: this man is not well, we have nothing in common with him, and he understands nothing about anything.

He calls himself a Christian. A deeply devout one, apparently. Although when asked his favourite Bible verse, he declines to share it. Because it is personal. Which is an interesting position for a man who has made absolutely everything else about himself a matter of loud, relentless, exhausting public record.

The verse is personal. The fraud trials were not. The affairs were not. The bankruptcies were not. The fake newspaper calls were not. But the Bible verse. That stays between him and God.

Which tells you everything, really.

Let me tell you about one of the most horrendous cases of unjustice that happened in Sweden.

You probably never heard about this from the media.

The year was 2017 and a person from Syria had just been granted asulum in Sweden.

He was convicted of two brutal r*pes of women.

One woman was abducted, strangled and r*ped.

The other woman was locked in a cellar for around 17 hours and tortured and r*ped.

For these heinous attacks he was sentenced to 3 years and 3 months prison.

But it gets worse.

The court later reassessed his age and concluded he was 17 at the time of the crimes, not 18 as first thought.

Therefore his sentence was reduced to only 1 year and 1 month of closed youth care.

So guess what?

The perpetrator was awarded over $90.000 in compensation of tax payers money for having spent "too long" in prison for his crimes.

Isn't this completely outrageous?

> exhibitors locked out of their own stalls
> 3-hour queue just to enter
> a founder’s product got stolen during the summit
> no wifi at an ai event.
> can’t take your keys if you came via car/bike
> no laptop/camera at tech event
> people were asked to sit on the ground
> speaker lineup with consultants/bureaucrats who’ve never shipped a real product
> the registration system crashed multiple times. people who registered weeks in advance couldn’t get in.

vips walked past massive queues while founders and builders stood outside in the heat. 🤡

and 27 countries witnessed all of this live

networking areas? no space to stand.

many demos didn’t work because there was no stable internet. 5g??

this is what happens when optics matter more than execution.
when innovation becomes photo-op

the sad part is india has insane talent.

founders building world class products.
engineers and researchers doing real work.

leave India for a sec, im at network school and the youngest crowd is all Indians.

but we keep shooting ourselves in the foot with performative nonsense.

the west isn’t winning because they’re smarter.
they’re winning because they care about details.

because they respect builders.
because their tech summits actually work.

and when he said it’s hard for india to build foundational models, we took it on our ego.

rn, every founder who attended left embarrassed.

imagine international delegate left with stories about our “infrastructure.”

Childbirth is marketed like a lifestyle upgrade. Soft lighting. Empowerment slogans. A healthy baby placed neatly on a chest as if nothing else worth mentioning happened in the room.

The fine print is hidden. Hemorrhage becomes “a complication.” Organ failure becomes “things took a turn.” Death becomes “tragic” and then swiftly private, because detailing how a woman bled out or seized or went into cardiac arrest might ruin the vibe.

We are extremely committed to not scaring women. So committed that we withhold information. So committed that we pretend risk is rare, pain is fleeting, and survival is the default setting. We call it reassurance. It’s actually omission.

When childbirth goes wrong, we close ranks. Doctors cite confidentiality. Families are urged to focus on the joy. The woman’s body is treated like an inconvenient subplot in a story that only cares about outcomes if the baby lives. If the mother dies, she becomes a cautionary whisper, not a systemic failure.

And heaven forbid the woman knew better. If a medically trained woman dies in childbirth, we don’t interrogate the system. We lower our voices and say “even experts aren’t immune,” as if the takeaway is cosmic irony rather than structural negligence.

The rule is simple enough. Celebrate the miracle, bury the cost. Because if we told the truth, women might ask questions. They might demand better care. They might hesitate. They might decide that risking their life deserves more than platitudes and pastel posters. They might just stop giving in to “you should have a baby to fully own your womanhood” by “well-meaning” people.

So we keep selling childbirth as sunshine with a side of courage. And when a woman pays with her body or her life, we call it rare, tragic, and absolutely not something we should talk about too much.

Wouldn’t want to ruin the miracle. That’s all that mattered, not women’s lives.
