I can take on the world, other times I can't & dig deep. Jaded by SEND proces. Chocolate & silliness help. Kindness rules the day. Love my 2kids ASC/PDA/GAD &NT
@CarrieGrant1 I am very sorry to read of your child's desperation and of yours too. The system is indeed broken. My 17yo protects herself by not living her life & staying at home, stuck. CAMHS broke her trust by ignoring her & now she cannot engage with any Services.
Yes, that’s the same Jenny Harries who said 👇🏽
testing for arriving international passengers isn’t necessary; airport screening isn’t needed; masks are not needed here; large events (like Cheltenham) would not have an impact on the spread of coronavirus; and much more...
26th March last year Jenny Harries says WHO advice to test, test, test, wasn't applicable to UK and wouldn't work
We still pay her wages !

@ItsEmilyKaty My daughter is of school leaving age with no exam pathway. She had a breakdown aged 11 and autism was diagnosed 12 months later. She has not been able to pick up her learning in school or out of school despite trying hard. She struggles with day to day things a lot (anxiety).
It’s the anniversary of lockdown but today we need to mark Herd Immunity Day. The policy behind the decision to lock down so late that caused tens of thousands of excess deaths & for which the government has neither apologised for nor even acknowledged. It’s our job to remember.
I know some of the Oxford AZ team. They literally toiled night & day to save lives - for humanity. They’re selfless, dedicated university employees.
My vaccine was given to me by a team of volunteers - cheerfully protecting their local community.
Greed???
No. Pure love.
#SEND procedures, processes, systems, provisions are designed for many salaried professionals in LEAs, education, heath and legal to have a job and a small % benefits the child. Parents are pushed to their limits to try and secure support to meet needs. Many families suffer.
"People talk about inclusion as if it's a healthy thing. But what inclusion means is trying to make children who struggle to fit in, fit in.
It doesn't mean providing what they need,"
We need to talk about what inclusion means for #autistic young people.

And young people with ADHD, Dyspraxia, Dyslexia and more.
Mainstream education is not inclusive for them most of the time. They are being forced to fit in with the system favoured by the majority neurotype.

@KeeleyMP Scandalous. It says a lot about barriers towards understanding & supporting neurological differences.
There are also many on the cusp of needing help outside of their family who try and keep them safe at home in the face of terrifying admissions to inadequate inpatient units
@KeeleyMP I signed a petition which received over 45k signatures and the Government responded in 2019. Since then 225 autistic children's are still being detained many hundreds of miles away. This is unacceptable I cannot even imagine what these families are going through.

What’s behind the success of the vaccination program?
“Capitalism and greed”
Or
✅ A well organised public service like the NHS
✅ Thousands of citizen volunteers
✅ Salaried scientists working for the public good

@MinnieStephC4@RosieDuffield1@Channel4News Did it take the public airing and publicising of this to bring about?
If do that’s an indictment of the police and their handling of his conduct.
Makes you wonder how much else goes on?
@MinnieStephC4@Channel4News I continue to be disappointed that he didn't receive a custodial sentence rather than a 'slap on the wrist'. His victim, Emma Homer, has explained how scarred she continues to feel; I'm convinced many other women's confidence in the UK's legal system has been shaken!
I had not heard of the assault on Emma until today. How many more?
This blog of lived experience about Emma's assault describes "if you are a woman who has been assaulted by a serving police officer, then be prepared to battle extremely hard to get justice".
Where's the justice?
PC Oliver Banfield was seen on CCTV grabbing and pulling Emma Homer to the ground near her home in Bidford-on-Avon last summer. He pleaded guilty and was given a 14 week curfew order. He was suspended from his job pending an investigation into allegations of gross misconduct.
NEW: The police officer who violently attacked Emma Homer as she walked home has resigned tonight. PC Oliver Banfield’s resignation follows the shocking CCTV we aired on @Channel4News on Friday.
An autistic child, a difficult parent and another laminated sheet but who saw us?
Instructions on how to behave or how to make friends is not a marker for success, these are neurotypical standards, decided by neurotypicals.
Change the environment, not the child.
