A program originally designed to address the specific, explicit racism against enslaved Africans & their descendants is not racist against other groups. This is an intentionally obtuse & convenient way of evaluating policies in nation where only 1 grp experienced chattel slavery.

When I graduated from Yale in 2012, 6% of undergrads were Black. 13% were legacies

When you're a Black person competing in a white space, and something good happens because you worked twice as hard, "it's because you're Black."

But when you work twice as hard, and something bad happens because you're Black, "it's because you didn't work hard enough."

In part, reparations are about legal compensation due to economic loss. The $818M #Juneteenth costs taxpayers could've gone a long way

To be clear, slavery didn't end on #Juneteenth. Anti-slavery laws weren't enforced for years. Once they were, sharecropping became slavery by another name. 150+ years later, more Black men are in the prison system than were enslaved in 1850
