@PaulSkallas So in a world about to be run by large language models - which operate through language - you don’t think study of language, philosophy and history is going to be useful in directing them? While LLMs are already exceeding human abilities in medicine, biology, mathematics, etc?
@balajis Conveniently ignoring that all the above problems are symptoms of capture by neoliberalism since the 70s; that all the post-war gains and infrastructure were from left-leaning programs; ignoring that today’s saviour tech companies will likewise extract and not invest.
@DrJimFan If the "superior writing abilities of LLMs are fundamentally driven by RLHF", does this suggest that as LLMs are applied to more complex subjects with fewer and fewer experts able to guide it in the early stages, it will get harder and harder to produce similarly good results?
