Buhari tried to save Elrufai, but Elrufai was so busy with his own philosophy that he didn't understand his political leader.

When Buhari and Emefiele mischievously introduced the Naira redesign policy, they did it with the understanding that Tinubu already had enough old currency to sponsor himself in the election.

So, they wanted to cripple the financial freedom Tinubu had.

Guess who mobilized other Governors to question that policy?

It was Elrufai, through the landmark case of Attorney General of Kaduna State & 15 Ors v. Attorney General of the Federation (2023) LPELR-60143.

When the former APC Chairman, Adamu Abdullahi, and Buhari wanted to play a fast one by using Ahmed Lawan as the APC consensus candidate, it was still this same Elrufai who mobilized other northern Governors to block that move.

Even at Chatham House, when Tinubu was being asked critical questions, the same Elrufai stepped in and came to his rescue.

Looking back today, it is difficult not to see the irony.

Buhari is no more, and Elrufai is now dancing to the same music whose stage he helped to set.

Perhaps if Buhari were still alive, he might have intervened.

But fate has decided otherwise. Now, Elrufai is left to keep dancing to the tune of the very music he helped compose.

Governors led by Vice President Kashim Shettima pay New Year homage to President Tinubu.

On Wednesday in Lagos, President Bola Tinubu underscored the vital importance of state governors in propelling Nigeria's development and prosperity. He stated that their leadership at the subnational level is essential for attaining food security, fostering economic growth, and ensuring swift national progress.

The president said, "You are the most important link to Nigeria's prosperity and development. The Federal Government accounts for about 30 to 35 per cent of the allocated revenue; the rest comes to you. The agricultural value chain depends on you. You own the land, and the job is in your hands.

"We will not fight within us. I will drive the change. You control your local governments. You can restore hope by effectively fulfilling what the people expect at the grassroots level.

"There were gossips that we had disagreements on local government autonomy. No. Just drive development at the local government. Nobody wants to take them away from you, but we need collaboration. Let's do it together and ensure Nigeria is better off for it.

"We have to work harder, grow more, and ensure the situation of our currency improves. Nigeria will see prosperity, but it requires consistent effort from all of us.

"There is no state we cannot visit and be proud of its development. We have better allocations now. Let me take the abuse; you take the privileges. Together, we will build a nation we are all proud of.

"I am glad I asked for this job, and Nigerians gave me the mandate. We'll be on this voyage together. I thank all of you for where we are today and where we are heading.”

The resident has revealed that he will be making a trip to Enugu State on January 4, as part of his itinerary to visit several states across the federation.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has refuted the purported declaration of Aisha Binani of the APC as winner of the ongoing Gubernatorial Election in Adamawa State.

In a series of tweet from the official twitter handle of the commission, the INEC, while suspending the ongoing collation of results, declared that the announcement by Barr Hudu Yunusa as usurpation of duty since he is no longer the returning officer for the election.
