📢“Forecasting School Enrolments in the ACT”
@attshen831 et al. (@Demography_ANU) introduce a probabilistic model to forecast school enrolments using cohort projection, highlighting the value of prediction intervals for school planning

Session 4 of #PopHet23 on ‘Health’ starts with Tianyu Shen on “Changing educational attainment as a driver of cohort changes in healthy longevity: a decomposition analysis of US birth cohorts”.
Check out our paper developing a novel method to decompose difference in multistate life expectancies into the differences in age-specific transition probabilities. This method expands the toolbox for multistate models. Generalizable code is available at https://t.co/BmaFbYFKn4
“Decomposition of Differentials in Health Expectancies From Multistate Life Tables”: @attshen831@timriffe1 @collinfpayne & V Canudas-Romo show how differences in transition probabs can → diffs in expectancies. @Demography_ANU@Opik_ikerketa@Ikerbasque

My first PhD paper exploring the interactions between disability and morbidity in the US. The younger cohorts certainly spend more of their lifetime with morbidities but not more time with disabilities. These patterns suggest dynamic equilibrium theory.

How does survival contribute to changes in the net reproduction rate (NRR) ?

We just launched the 🆕 website for our Human Life-Table Database w/ updated content #HLD#HMD

Some details on why & how HLD can be useful for your research 🧵1/7
🔸HLD is a collection of life tables (LT) produced mainly by NSOs
New from @IsabelHMBrooks & Abigail Weitzman @UTPopCenter: “Highly religious women prioritize an aversion to stigmatized, nonmarital pregnancies over an adherence to religious norms against contraception.” That is, absent hormonal use, they rely on condoms. https://t.co/48Z5yMywnH
New from @collinfpayne & Kim Xu on SES & longevity in China: Life expectancy & disability-free LE differ most w/ persistently low or high SES over the life course. Accumulation of advantage/disadvantage may drive disparities among elderly. @Demography_ANU
