This morning ATUFWS volunteered at Lake Dardanelle State Park for National Public Lands Day by helping to remove invasive Privet.

Spent the afternoon sampling fish with my Fisheries Techniques class at Dare Creek, where they got hands-on experience with backpack electrofishing.

This Saturday at 8am there will be a volunteer cleanup at Lake Dardanelle State Park for National Public Lands Day. Volunteers will clean up shorelines and remove invasive Privet. You are encouraged to wear clothes you don’t care about, closed-toed shoes, and work gloves.

This morning, we joined Yell County Wildlife Federation (YCWF), AGFC, and the U.S. Forest Service at Piney Creek WMA for the annual workday that YCWF organizes. Volunteers maintained food plots, constructed hog traps, removed invasive plants, and painted gates on the WMA.

This Steelcolor Shiner was observed by Fisheries Graduate Student Savannah Wise while conducting research for her Master's degree. Sometimes they'll have a bright red nose, giving them the honor of being the fish for this, the last day of Fish-mas.

On this 10th day of Fishmas this is Fisheries Graduate Student Tara Schnelting with a Northern Hogsucker. Observed during her research studying fish assemblages in Moro Creek, Arkansas.

For the 9th day of Fishmas this Bowfin was observed in the Arkansas River on behalf of the Least Tern monitoring project by Nathan Mansor (pictured), Shelby Hunter, and Coley Turner

For the 8th day of Fishmas here's this Pirate Perch which was observed at Moro Creek by Aaron Brady and Tara Schnelting. Fun fact about Pirate Perch, they are the only species in Arkansas that have a jugular anus.

For the 7th day of Fishmas, this is a Blue Catfish sampled on the Arkansas River for the Least Tern Monitoring Project by Shelby Hunter (Pictured), Coley Turner, and Nathan Mansor.

For the 6th day of Fishmas, this Sunburst Darter was observed in Dry Creek on behalf of Risa McCollough’s masters project studying the effects of stream barriers on fish movement and macroinvertebrate assemblages.
