#WATCH | Chandigarh: On Skin Bank inaugurated in PGIMER Chandigarh, Head of Department, Plastic Surgery, PGIMER Dr Atul Parashar says, "This is the first skin bank in Northern region...and a skin bank has been opened in AIIMS Delhi on July 15...Under this, people who have given consent for skin donation, we have to harvest their skin within six hours of their death and then it's processed. The skin bank is a processing unit...and if the skin gets cleared free from infection then we preserve it. We can preserve it for close to five years and we use it for patients who sustained more than 30-50% burns..."
