Introducing Passbook.
The private app to manage your family's wealth. One place for everything that matters.
"Private? So only I can see it?"
Yes. Even we can't.
"Where does my data live?"
Your laptop. Your Google Drive. Not our servers.
"What if I'm not at my laptop?"
https://t.co/QpFoxmVFlI - Access from any browser. Any device.
"Hold on. My data is on my laptop and Google Drive but I can access it from a browser? How?"
Your browser talks directly to your Google Drive. No middleman. Yes, we solved it.
"Can my family access it?"
That's the whole point.
"But will my family actually understand it?"
Also the whole point.
"So you just track investments like every other app?" You can also store passwords, documents and notes. We took "one place" very seriously.
Available for Mac today. Windows in a few days. https://t.co/Ogwfghc0v3
Building https://t.co/DtgBTl7NvU - The private app to manage your family's wealth, documents, passwords, notes, all in one place.
Your data is encrypted and stored only on your device and Google Drive. There is no central Passbook database, giving users absolute privacy to their most sensitive financial life.
True. There is a diverse set of feedback I'm hearing. One category is obviously the missing asset classes that are already part of our roadmap.
People also want to track the detailed transaction history for their stock investments and some want to track P&L for their trading as well.
It's interesting to to learn these use cases. At the same time, it's important for us to not deviate from our core value prop, so having clarity on what we will not do is very important at this stage.
We launched Passbook 10 days ago. Here's what early users are saying:
"This is exactly the kind of app I was looking for."
"It's refreshing to see an app focused on personal finance management in such a clean and thoughtful way."
"I love the simplicity of it, while also capturing everything I need from a family point of view."
Available for Mac and Windows.

Great business opportunity. Create an agency that uses AI to improve AI slop code. If you're an engineer and you know how to operate a team of AI agents to actually produce good code, there is bank to be made here.
Someone recently asked me, "If Passbook is fully local and private, how do you manage subscriptions and take payments?"
This is a fair question because most apps that claim to be private still store your data on their servers. The word "private" has lost meaning in fintech.
So let me be direct.
There is no central Passbook database that stores your personal or financial data. No server holding your investments, passwords, documents, or family details. None of it.
Your data lives only on your device and your own Google Drive. Every user has their own encrypted database. Purely decentralized. No single database for anyone to breach.
So how do subscriptions work?
When you install Passbook, we receive only two things: your email address and an anonymized device ID. That's all that lives on our server.
Based on this, we issue a signed token that your app stores locally. The app periodically refreshes this token to check for any subscription changes.
That's the entire interaction between your app and our server. Your financial life and our billing system never intersect.

So this happened.
All in less than 24 hours.
And all from just 1 X post.
This is the "Ease of Doing Business on X".
I would love to see more of this.

In 1991, then PM P.V.Narasimha Rao appointed Economist Dr. Manmohan Singh as Finance Minister..
Similarly, CM @TVKVijayHQ can appoint a qualified Economist as Finance Minister!

Took my dad’s colleagues from UK to Mahabalipuram beach today. And it’s trash, trash, cows, dogs and more trash everywhere. We were shocked to see how TN tourism maintains a historical place like Mahabalipuram. Stalls are ruining this place. @tntourismoffcl@UpdatesChennai
When I visited India a few years ago, I got my blood work done at 7am by a Healthcare worker who visited me, got the reports by 9am, doctor's appointment at 10am, followup multiple scans at 2pm, scan results came back at 3pm, followup doctor's phone appointment at 4pm, and medication delivered at 5pm at my doorstep.
All this costed me 3000 rupees (~$30)
There's something called the privacy paradox.
Everyone says they care about privacy. But when it comes to choosing, convenience wins every time.
It's like knowing you should go to the gym but choosing the couch because the couch is easier.
That's exactly what happens with finance apps. People know that handing over their financial data to 3rd party apps is a risk. But the alternative is a spreadsheet or an outdated open source tool that looks like it's from 2009. So they compromise.
Apple figured this out years ago. Privacy and convenience are not opposites. You can have both. Most companies just choose not to build it that way because it's genuinely harder.
That's what we're building with https://t.co/hv6MqVyG0K for managing your family wealth.
Your data never leaves your device and your Google Drive. But you still get auto-imports from CAMS, CDSL and EPF. You still access everything from any browser. You can still share with your family.
You can store your documents, passwords, and notes for the full context. It is truly a one place for everything your family needs. And it comes with beautiful UX that you would love.
In short, you get the power of an app with the privacy of a spreadsheet.
