UNBS swiftly responds to viral social media complaint about undersized tarpaulins

Suspected companies inspected, found with undersized and poorly labelled tarpaulins contrary to Uganda Standard US EAS 1073:2022 and UNBS Act Cap 210

Both Modern Agro Investments Limited and Namanve Tarpaulin Weaving Limited sealed off for producing, selling and being in possession of undersized and poorly labelled tarpaulins.

UNBS encourages the public to report suspected cases of substandard products using our social media pages and toll free lines 0800133133 / 0800233233 .

PS: Section 2, Sub Section (1) (f) of the UNBS Act Cap 210, mandates the UNBS to enforce standards in protection of the public against harmful, dangerous and sub-standard products, while section 20 of the Act prohibits the manufacture, sale, distribution or holding for the purpose of selling any product that does not meet compulsory Uganda standards.

US EAS 1073:2022 requires that the size of the tarpaulin shall not vary more than +/-1% from the dimensions declared on the label when measured in accordance with ISO 22198.
