This is a silly analysis. The US makes more than enough diesel to meet domestic needs. We just sell it to people in other countries. If we stop selling it abroad, there is no US externality to Ukraine's targeting of Russia's refineries. End of story. Trump could do it instantly...wonder why he doesn't?
@the_transit_guy Agreed. Somehow this doesnt seem like the reliable news Elon promised everyone when taking over twitter...almost like that wasnt the goal at all
We dont need Russian diesel, and this is a tri ial amount anyway. We make plenty here. The problem is that US oil companies export it. All he has to do is ban the export of diesel from the US, and this problem is solved. But fundamentally cares more about oil companies than truck drivers .
@ChrisDorworth Tiny amount, like a few days. Won't affect pricing. If he wanted to help, only has to ban US diesel exports. Doesn't fundamentally care about US consumer; only looking good for election.
@Afghansisraelit@WarClandestine Its almost like if we just kept our own diesel inside the US, instead of selling it on the world market at the global price, it wouldnt cost as much!
@StealthQE4@vvavxxvi@BradMunchen All Trump has to do is stop exporting diesel from our own refineries, and this problem will go away. The situation is entirely self inflicted.
@eljefe1america@ajlamesa You arent getting rid of insurance. Regulating it is a far more practical objective. If you can make cash pay work, that's great.
