Today, I was honored to welcome Kira the Machine, her mother Aud, and Emily from @SKC_UK to my office to discuss my Rare Cancers Bill.
Kira, a remarkable young woman from Edinburgh South West, was diagnosed with aggressive neuroblastoma at age eleven, a tumour that was a staggering two litress in volume.
She has spent years in hospitals enduring gruelling treatments, including twenty rounds of chemotherapy and battling numerous relapses.
Now, thanks to the drug Lorlatinib, Kira is finally able to live a more normal life. This is a testament to her incredible resilience, her mother's unwavering support, the exceptional care at the Sick Kids Hospital, and the vital work of Solving Kids' Cancer.
Both Kira and Solving Kids' Cancer are strong advocates for my bill, which they hope will lead to improved treatments for neuroblastoma and all pediatric cancers.
