🇺🇬 Kampala Hockey Club will represent Uganda at the Africa Cup for Club Champions, which kicks off in Zimbabwe this weekend.
A contingent of 30, led by Uganda Hockey Association President Phillip Wafula and Treasurer Sarah Arinaitwe, who will double as the Chef de Mission, flies out to Harare tomorrow for the continental competition.
The 18 players, 2 tournament officials, 9 techincal staff and 1 Association representative were flagged off by National Council of Sports (NCS) Assistant General Secretary (Technical) Milton Chebet and Senior Sports Officer Sarah Anne Nankya in Lugogo yesterday, the group being urged to be exemplary ambassadors and fierce but fair competitors.
Appearing at this tournament for a third time in a row, the Ugandan champions' quest for continental glory will bring them into direct confrontation with teams from Kenya, Namibia and Egypt between 24th and 29th January, as they look to better their bronze medal feat of 2023.

⚽ With the curtains officially coming down at the 2025 AFCON tournament in Morocco, all cameras now tune their lenses on East Africa in the wake of the upcoming PAMOJA 2027 edition.
The president of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), Dr Patrice Motsepe, officially handed over the CAF flag to the representatives from Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat City last night, moments after the explosive final between Morocco and Senegal.
On the podium, Uganda was ably represented by the State Minister for Sports, Hon. Peter Ogwang, and Eng. Moses Magogo, the President of the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA), who were joined by their counterparts from Kenya and Tanzania, just before the prize presentation ceremony.
Uganda’s delegation in Morocco also had the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education and Sports, Dr Kedrace Turyagenda, the Chairman of the National Council of Sports (NCS) Ambrose Tashobya, NCS General Secretary Dr Bernard Patrick Ogwel, Jacqueline Basemera (Secretary, AFCON Local Organising Committee), Salim Katumba (Vice Chairperson ICT Subcommittee of the LOC), and Dr Daniel Kyabayiize (Chairman Health Sub Committee of the LOC.
Preparations are already in high gear for a successful AFCON 2027, the first to be co-hosted by three countries in the history of the competition which has been staged since 1957.
The three East African countries have intensified their preps with major infrastructure drives (stadia, training venues, administrative units, hotels and other accommodation facilities, air and road transport systems, and others).⚽

1. One of the key facilities to be constructed is the Central Processing Facility (CPF). This, along with other facilities like the well pads, flowlines, and a lake water abstraction point, will play a crucial role.
