@RantyHighwayman Wow! I couldn’t work out where that was till I googled “Marconi Wing”. That whole section of Strand below Aldwych is now pedestrianised?!
@iambrianjones When I was first working at the Guardian, I walked my bike across there without realising what they were. Quite refreshing, as I was thankfully still in my Lycras!
@jayrayner1 He doesn’t say it was his first ever dive. It was his first diving trip. I’m sure I did far more on my first trip, having done my PADI here, before going to Egypt.
@Phubuntu@JonCollett@ProfBrianCox 1) that’s still a majority, I suggest you read up on what the term means
2) any decision taken with QM would still be vetoable - if we still had a veto.
Sadly, Brexit shit the bed on that.
@Mike_Fabricant The Soviet Union? So you are claiming expertise based on visits 30+ years ago?
Do shut up Michael. You and your pals are all tainted by Russian donations anyway. Why should we trust a word you say!?
@Loftybigwood @alan_ridgley Well. One gets tired of “professional drivers” complaining about losing their livelihoods for repeated shit driving, like speeding is just something unfortunate that happens to everyone, like getting crapped on by a pigeon, and not something they should actively choose not to do.
@JonCollett@ProfBrianCox Nah. My main account got suspended for telling someone not to be a cunt. I’m amazed this one has any.
Not sure why you would think a low follower count is a decent counter argument against what I said either.
@MartinSLewis The idea is to take ‘spare’ money out of the economy. Let’s examine:
1) Wage increases < inflation so many people already have less money.
2) People still with ‘spare’ cash will only save if saving rates > inflation. Otherwise they’re better off buying things.
This won’t work.
@JonCollett@ProfBrianCox (I don’t think you know what undemocratic means. MEPs?)
At the very least, when we were in it, we could ensure it didn’t become a federation of states because we had a veto.
If you’re right, we are still going to rejoin, and Brexit may well have created the very thing you fear.
@simes1701 @RantyHighwayman Anyway. Muted now.
Hopefully you won’t be an ignorant unpleasant person all your life, and hopefully this conversation has made you a touch less proud of being one - but I doubt it.
@simes1701 @RantyHighwayman I suspect that you take a perverse pride in being rude and implying that others are less worthy of consideration. And thus I conclude that the people you deride as “the rude left” are in fact better people than you are.
