Every day, mothers and orphaned babies arrive in our care. We will rescue them, feed them, treat them, sterilise them and give them every chance we can.

💔 AFTER 12 YEARS OF SUFFERING, IT WOULD BE UNFAIR TO LET HER STORY GO UNSEEN.

Please SHARE her story so the world can see what a working donkey can silently endure. And if someone would like to SPONSOR her diagnostic tests and prolonged treatment, please come forward. 🙏🫏

Until today, she was still being made to work—almost blind, dehydrated, walking painfully on overgrown and cracked hooves, with a partially luxated shoulder.

We may never know everything she endured, but her body carries the evidence of years of hard labour. Our vets and equine specialists are concerned that prolonged pressure from heavy loads and poorly fitted harnessing may have caused chronic damage around her neck and shoulders—not only to the skin, but potentially to deeper soft tissues and structures beneath.

Her owner also told us that her front legs became trapped in deep mud while carrying a load, which may have caused further trauma.

Today we started treatment, gave her IV fluids and encouraged her to drink. ❤️ Tomorrow, further examinations and diagnostics will begin to understand the full extent of the damage to her shoulder, limbs and eyes.

She has suffered unseen for long enough. Please don’t let her story remain unseen too. 💔

Around 20 years old, painfully underweight and barely able to walk, Pearl had simply been used, abused and discarded.

Our team spotted her and immediately brought her to safety.

Meet **Journey**.

Journey is around seven years old. He collapsed while pulling a heavily overloaded brick cart after falling into a deep pit.

The impact almost killed him.

Our vets diagnosed a **punctured left lung, ruptured chest muscles, traumatic hemopneumothorax, severe subcutaneous emphysema (air trapped beneath the skin), and extreme breathing difficulty.**

As our vets treated him, trapped air escaped through the wound in his chest.

Every breath was a fight.

Journey survived... but surviving isn't enough.

His owner already wants him back.

After everything his body has endured, Journey deserves rest, safety, and a life free from suffering—not another overloaded cart.

Sadly, if Journey returns to work, another accident like this is only a matter of time. And if he isn't sent back, another horse or donkey may simply be bought to replace him.

That is the heartbreaking cycle we are trying to end.

This is why I started **TAWF's Second Chance for Working Donkeys**.

My dream is to replace animal-drawn carts with motor carts, retire these exhausted animals to our sanctuary, and prevent the next Journey before another innocent life is broken.

But this dream cannot become reality without your help.

We are still waiting for support to secure a motor cart for Polar, whose owner is also asking for him back. Now Journey needs the same second chance.

We thought we might lose them both. Today, we can finally say… they’re coming back to life. ❤️‍🩹

Toby and Dobby arrived as tiny orphans.
Weak. Vulnerable. Without their mother’s protection.

We tested them and vaccinated them as soon as it was safe.

Six days later, our worst fear came true.

Parvo. 💔

Their little bodies had so little strength left.

But they fought.
And so did we.

Drips. Medicines. Feeding. Warmth. Round-the-clock care.

And now… look at them. ❤️

Eating. Playing. Growing stronger.

Their skin is healing.
New fur is growing.

Two little boys we feared losing are becoming puppies again. 🐾❤️

Their vaccination course will continue when medically appropriate.

This is why we never give up.

Se sabe que está compinchado con el veterinario del pueblo otro elemento y que ya le han dado un jarabe con veneno que le tiene adormilado 😞
Como el perro se ha revuelto porque le trata mal le pega con una goma de butano hasta quedarse con con los brazos cansados de golpear ‼️😡
Ahora le tiene una vecina pero se va de vacaciones y lo va a tener que dejar

She walked comfortably for the first time in her life...

When Tippy arrived, everyone noticed her painfully overgrown "slipper" hooves. But they were only a small part of her suffering.

Beneath her matted coat we found severe skin disease, mites, fleas, little more than skin and bones, and blood tests that revealed something even more heartbreaking. She is severely anaemic, battling two blood parasite infections, and her liver and kidneys have already been damaged by long-term neglect.

Today, Tippy has tiny little hooves, fresh green grass beneath her feet, a special diet, intensive treatment, and people who refuse to give up on her.

Her fight is far from over, but for the first time in her life, she finally has a chance.
