Peace is not simply the absence of war. It depends on the ability of societies to confront disagreement without violence, protect human rights and dignity, and keep dialogue open when tensions rise.
Today, conflict, displacement, discrimination, hate speech, backsliding on rights and polarization are fracturing communities and eroding trust.
On this #InternationalDayOfPeace, @UNESCO calls for greater investment in the institutions, skills and relationships that allow societies to address tensions before they turn into violence.

This year's #PeaceDay is a reminder to invest in peace, for everyone, everywhere:
🌎 Respecting human rights
🕊️ Promoting non-violence
⚖️ Committing to freedom, justice & cooperation
Everyone can do their part.
Investing in peace is investing in our shared future.
“Achieving peace is not passive or automatic.
It’s an active and deliberate choice to invest in a better future.”

Elections come and go. Kenya remains. How we compete for power must never destroy the country we hope to lead.
At the launch of the Roadmap to a Violence-Free 2027 General Election, Uchaguzi Bila Noma, I called on political leaders, institutions, faith communities, civil society, the private sector and every Kenyan to protect one of our country's greatest assets, peace and stability.
Peace is not just a political issue, it has real economic value. It gives businesses confidence to invest and hire, protects livelihoods and allows young people to build their futures. When instability takes hold, ordinary Kenyans pay the highest price.
To our young people especially, disagree, question, debate and demand accountability, but never allow politics or social media to convince you that another Kenyan is your enemy. Elections will pass, but we will still live, work and build this country together.
As we move towards 2027, our institutions must be respected, our political competition must remain peaceful and our words must unite rather than incite.
When the final vote is cast and counted, the greatest victory should belong to Kenya.
To fully realise the promise of our democracy, every Kenyan must be able to exercise their right to express themselves, assemble, campaign and vote in a safe and peaceful environment.
In collaboration with other agencies, partners and stakeholders, the Ministry of Interior and National Administration plays a central role in maintaining law and order and fostering peace, cohesion and trust between communities.
This morning, I was pleased to join H.E the Prime Cabinet Secretary @MusaliaMudavadi and other dignitaries for the launch of the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) roadmap to a violence-free general election 2027, dubbed 'Uchaguzi Bila Noma'.
Through the National Steering Committee on Peacebuilding and Conflict Management (NSC), NGAOs and security agencies, we are actively collaborating with NCIC to build trust, encourage responsible leadership, promote youth engagement and prevent conflicts to ensure a harmonious society and peaceful 2027 general elections.
Other dignitaries present included NCIC Chairperson Bishop Dr. Kepha Omae, IEBC Chairperson Erastus Ethekon, DIG-APS Gilbert Masengeli and NCIC CEO Dr. Daniel Giti, among others.

We're not crying, you are.🥹
Michelle Obama stepped to that podium and gave her husband every single flower he deserved. She spoke directly to Barack and brought him to tears.
This is what love and legacy look like. 🖤

The shared pain, the incredible strength of the warriors, and the dedication of the caregiver... it really makes you look at life with so much gratitude. Continuous prayers for everyone fighting this silent battle. 🙏🏾
Respect to all the caregivers and warriors!
He writes the original, puts the duplicate in the OB book
Me: "Why aren't you writing the duplicate?"
Cop: "Btw ninafaa kuandika, lakini kwa sasa nataka kutoka, naenda kinyozi kunyoa. Nitaandika baadaye."
A whole officer abandoned my paperwork for a haircut! #OnlyInKenya
Kenya is a literal movie! 😭 Lost my ID & went to a police post to get an abstract. The script was scripting from the jump. Walked in,officers glued to their phones.1st response? "Go report it where you lost it."(S/O to Cop 2 who told him to do the needful 'cause I was on transit)
Tell me why this man looks at me & says: "Sasa kama wewe hapana ambia mimi mahali unatoka, kesho ukija hapa nitakusaidia kweli?" Just wow!! So your willingness to help a citizen depends on my tribe? The audacity! Anyway, sent to a cyber to buy a "NOT FOR SALE" form for 50 bob.
