My husband’s face went entirely hollow. "Sofia, open the glove box. There's a black case with a keypad. Type in 4-0-2-8 and hit the toggle switch."
My hands shook violently as I punched in the numbers. Inside was a heavy, military-grade signal jammer. I flipped the switch, and a blue light began to pulse.
"Hold on!" he yelled. He violently whipped the steering wheel to the right, taking a blind, high-speed turn into a massive, multi-level underground parking garage.
The darkness swallowed us. He tore down the ramps, dropping three levels deep into the concrete maze before cutting the headlights and killing the engine. We slammed into silence, tucked away in a dark corner behind a massive concrete pillar.
Seconds later, the black SUV roared past our level, its tires squealing as it sped further down into the depths of the garage, completely blind without our GPS signal to track.
My husband turned to me, his breath ragged. "The jammer bought us five minutes. We need to ditch this car and get to Chloe before they realize we vanished off their grid."
I looked at the burner phone, then at the man I thought I knew completely. The safe, ordinary life I had an hour ago was gone.
"Lead the way," I said.

@MrsGandhi The preinstalled apps go through scrutiny of security researchers all over the world. One small security breach and the brand risks damage their image beyond repair. But for SancharSathi, can you assure me that government will remove the app if any security breach is reported?
