I'm exhausted by the way most people I know don't know how to tap out of the culture wars
They're sinking their claws in. And I'm angry that they can't tap out, because it means they're being manipulated into thinking there isn't another option
@jazfloot So similarly, optimizing for both sort of implodes. Although I could probably carry a lot more of the total acceptance of self I find in acting into my healing work.
@jazfloot Huhhhhh....this is a good thing to notice.
Also, my pursuit of being less triggerable has a lot more shoulds, preferences, goals, good/bad binaries, etc (not always functionally, but sometimes just as orientation). Whereas in acting, bc I'm portraying life, it's all welcome.
@almostnora Lol. "You'd like that, wouldn't you..."
"....if I was just an abstraction whose only goal was to please you, rather than someone whole whose preferences don't refer to you in any particular way...."
Bummer, because you sharing it with him was a willingness to connect with him!
YOUNG PEOPLE:
Do you believe older mentors or elders are a real source of wisdom, guidance, or help?
Are they, in your life?
To what degree are all or most of your interactions with other 20/30-year-olds?
(Researching something)
@moodymaggie2 I'm delighted. I hope it's helpful. I also happen to think it's probably true. Both mystically and, if more is needed, kind of "technically" in terms of the relationship between psychological state and energetic or action expression.
Good luck! You're already on the path!
The terror of "being unaccepting" will not do the direct harm that unacceptance does, but runs the risk of causing harm from neglect of other considerations.
The transgender question is not one of right or wrong, and it is not one exclusively of hatefulness/phobia vs. acceptance. It is primarily one of responsible, wise, theoretically and practically sound guidance, healing, & care for people who are struggling in often complex ways.
When we remove it from questions of development, psychology, sociology, &, especially, a basic framework of trying to do our best to care for the individuals in our society, & make it exclusively a question of acceptance, we do a disservice to the entire community (cis & trans).
@GatWhale @dmitriy14641 So yeah, maybe-- by seeing evil in others, and feeling we need to destroy it (rather than seeking to eliminate the impulse to destroy evil in others in ourselves, and thereby eliminating the impulse towards evil in ourselves), we are not accepting what is. So we do evil
@GatWhale @dmitriy14641 Gratitude comes out of accepting (and seeing the good in) what is, right now, and is reliably considered a key ingredient in happiness (it aint money, sex or power kiddo, it's gratitude).
By James Carse's definition, we do evil ironically when trying to eliminate evil in others
@HEXENFABRIK What about the Reformation created the modern secular nation-state? Like, what made it something that you couldn't go back on/get outside the framework of?
Does anyone have examples from history of a society getting caught in an adversarial binaries (i.e. Culture War) where everything is swallowed into one ideological framework, and then pulling itself out without the society falling apart?
