@cbs11doug@flyLAXairport Ah! Haven’t been there since all that construction. Didn’t use to be a tunnel. Actually, it might have been when the airport first opened, but that’s been a minute.
@MCCCANM Thank you for all you do to promote aviation knowledge. You definitely have a communications gift. Take the time you need and we look forward to future post when you are easy. Take care of yourself!! Cheers!
@MCCCANM Great attitude! I talk to pilots everyday who do exactly what you do and do nothing but complain about it. I know that it can get monotonous and the schedule can wear you down. But, still… 🙄
In the past few years Boeing have taken hits from all quarters. But no matter what you think, this is an astonishing image of a @flydubai aircraft that went well beyond its design limits (30,000 Ft per minute descent rate was reported, a normal rate is about 1500 ft per minute) and held together. That’s robust aviation engineering that Joe Sutter would have been very proud of, and Boeing should be too. Bravo to those off duty pilots who saved the day and landed the aircraft safely in Saudi Arabia.
@MCCCANM Buy a lottery ticket! I can guarantee that our ops calls Dispatch when a Hawaii arrival is more than about 15 minutes early. The latest thing is a call about not enough pax filling out the online ag form arriving LIH. They threaten to not let anyone deplane.
@KB7ZUT@MCCCANM ETOPS ‘areas of operations’ are a fixed distance based on single-engine operations, in still-air at a standard temperature. There’s a lot more that goes into it, but wind isn’t a factor for this part. An actual diversion can be longer.
@MCCCANM I made a station visit to PHTO a couple of years ago and spoke to our contracted handler and got to tour the airfield. Lots of room for diversions. 7 gates even have jetbridges! I haven’t pulled the trigger on diverting there. But, after that visit, I wouldn’t hesitate.
@ShannonBream I’ve worked in aviation for almost 50 years. ‘Severe’ turbulence is extremely rare and will usually only last maybe a minute. There are cases when it went on for several minutes.
