i think the otjize was a good representation of African power and accomplishment for Binti so when she no longer had it from home, she had to readjust and mourn that. She was reassured that her otjize was not the limit of her accomplishments. #fys03xu

the ending section of Binti was filled with a lot of fast moments that i feel like i did not get to fully understand or absorb because of how short/ fast paced the book was, but it was still interesting to me #fys03xu

i think the short film Pumzi shows a great story of African decent going above and beyond what they are supposed to and finding great success. it portrays those aspects of afrofuturism well through the main character Asha. #fys03xu

i like how Nnedi described the difference in classic sci-fi and afrofuturism by using ana octopus analogy- octopus intelligence is of one of the greatest, similar to humans, but the foundation of the intelligence is different and comes from different factors. #fys03xu

Book Review of Binti by Nnedi Okorafor— the book dives into racism coming from civilization and shows how it effects the character but also how the character pushes that onto others. I usually don’t read sci-fi so i am excited to see what this book is all about #fys03xu

@YungerAlex i agree with this. i think when she listed just a few of the accomplishments completed by Africans or in Africa it brought to attention just how closed minded people can be and how much good we are missing with that mindset #fys03xu
