🕊️🌹♥️ Due to today being Juneteenth, I wanted to make a post about Eric Mays, a councilman, a hood humanitarian, and a soul that brought (and still brings) many smiles and laughs to people's faces today. When I think of Eric Mays, I think of Black History.
To many people, Eric Mays was someone who was hilarious, unapologetic, and stood on business no matter who was in front of him. To me, as somebody who spent a lot of time researching him, I learned that there was much more to the man than the viral clips. Beneath the jokes, arguments, and headlines was someone who genuinely cared about people.
He was known for standing out in the cold and snow to help the homeless, spoke openly about his love for the Bible, and carried with him the influence of his father, who was a pastor. He never seemed afraid to speak up for Black people, challenge racism, or defend what he believed was right, even when it made him unpopular. Like all human beings, he was flawed and misunderstood at times, but his passion for his community was undeniable.
As a proud son of Flint, he represented the city with heart, conviction, and authenticity. His impact reached far beyond city council meetings and internet memes. In his own way, he became a hero to many.
Forever missed. I pray he ascended peacefully and found rest. 🕊️🌹♥️
Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer caught on a hot mic talking about the controversial Al data center being built despite overwhelming opposition: "We're used to people saying 'f*ck no!', and then doing it anyway."
A whopping 85% of rental properties in Detroit are owned by landlords who have no legal right to collect rent. Now housing attorneys are threatening to sue to prevent those landlords from collecting rent https://t.co/XjP0m503W5
This is insane:
• UofM cracks down on and arrests anti-genocide student protesters
• Ann Arbor prosecutor Eli Savit declines to prosecute
• UofM recruits MI AG and Zionist lunatic Dana Nessel to personally prosecute the case—HIGHLY unusual for such low-level charges
• Nessel forced to drop all charges to preempt court finding her unable to fairly prosecute the case due to her bias against Arabs and Muslims as well as her ties to Zionist extremist groups caught attempting to influence the court
• Nessel (a Democrat!) turns to Trump DoJ and Kash Patel to bring felony conspiracy charges against the students
The FBI raided and arrested 7 pro-Palestine activists this morning for their involvement in student organizing at UMich. They are still targeting the student movement. Please spread the word about this. Donate to the legal fund in this thread
Two Michigan residents have filed what attorneys say is the first class-action lawsuit in the U.S. over noise from a data center, alleging a Dowagiac facility has created a constant nuisance that has disrupted daily life and hurt property values. https://t.co/tMzDzYERyN
