🌿 Celebrating 137 Years of Botanical Excellence 🌿
On this day, we proudly mark the 137th Foundation Day of the Botanical Survey of India (BSI) - an institution that has been at the heart of documenting, conserving, and understanding India’s rich plant diversity since its establishment in 1890.
@bsi_moefcc has played a pivotal role in safeguarding our natural heritage. Its legacy continues to inspire scientists, nature lovers, and citizens. Let us reaffirm our commitment to preserving biodiversity for generations to come. #BSI #BotanicalSurveyOfIndia #137YearsOfBSI #Biodiversity @moefcc
In celebration of 150 years of the iconic Rashtra Geet #VandeMataram, the staff of the @BSI_CNH_Howrah, together with research scholars and outsourcing personnel, joined hands for a meaningful tree plantation programme at the Bambusetum of @bsi_ajcbibg Howrah, on 14 November 2025.
The gathering symbolised our shared commitment to honouring heritage while caring for the planet. Moments like these inspire deeper green actions and collective stewardship for the future.

I extend my heartfelt congratulations to the team of @bsi_moefcc for completing the Kundao Tso Trek, undertaken from 26 October to 7 November, in the high-altitude frontier of Arunachal Pradesh.
The expedition, organised by the 82 Mountain Brigade of @adgpi, was a solemn tribute to the heroes of the 1962 Battle of Walong, where many of our brave soldiers laid down their lives fighting for our motherland.
On 5 November, the team, alongside the Indian Army, successfully reached Kundao Tso and proudly unfurled the National Flag, symbolizing the indomitable spirit of India.
It is a matter of deep pride that the 8-member BSI scientific team not only trekked through harsh weather and rugged terrain, but also documented more than 230 plant species, enriching our understanding of the unique biodiversity of this ecologically sensitive region.
The courage of our soldiers lights our path.
The dedication of our scientists strengthens our future.
Together, they uphold the spirit of a proud and steadfast nation.
Jai Hind. 🇮🇳
