Is the Right to breathe clean air a fundamental right under Article 21 in India only for theoretical purposes ?
This pollution is due to illegal bhattis carrying out the process of smelting that is extracting metal from its ore.
Flying squads to combat air pollution by @mybmc are only on paper.
Location: Yadav Nagar, Kherani road and right side of Ahle Hadees Masjid, Khairani Road.
The location is a few meters away from an international school.
@VarshaEGaikwad and @Mi_DilipLande will have to understand that this pollution will not only damage the health of people living in high rises but will also affect people living in slums.
People have been complaining for more then 5 years, but BMC imposes a petty fine of Rs. 500 to Rs. 2000 and files action taken report for their record.

@bombaybecnch @mpcb_official@Pankajamunde@India_NHRC Isn't Right to breathe clean air a fundamental right under Article 21.
We have raised this concern multiple times in last 5 years, but have not seen substantial action taken.
These illegal bhattis at Kherani road carry out smelting operations, that release significant air pollutants like sulfur dioxide, nitrogen oxides, and various heavy metals.
Smelting is a pyrometallurgical process used to extract a base metal from its ore by applying heat and chemical reducing agents, often carbon-based.
Smelting poses significant health risks due to exposure to airborne pollutants and heavy metals. These pollutants can cause respiratory problems, including asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), as well as eye and throat irritation. Long-term exposure can lead to heart and lung problems, and even premature death. Furthermore, heavy metals like lead can cause neurological damage, kidney dysfunction, and even birth defects.
These illegal bhattis are having adverse effects on people living in Kherani road, Sakinaka and Nahar Amrit Shakti.
