books you gave me last time. And I have trying my hand in watercolor, testing it with that bird guide from the Amazon rainforest"
Laurie happily yapped, full of energy.
He got curious by the gift idea; looking at James, Laurie tilted his head in a curious manner.
The younger man, however, decided to listen to his father and smiled upon hearing from himself there wasn't any kind of deeper injuries.
"Oh. . . I have read the

James chuckled softly, shaking his head as he didn't mind it โ he missed his son so badly . . .
โOh. That gives me an idea of Christmas present.โ
He smirked playfully, looking at his son in a smile. โ
"Sorry."
Laurie apologized gently, slowly making his hug softer and caressing his father's rib.
"Your cologne. . . It feels always like home. Since I remember you."
The young man smiled, looking at James for a bit before resting his eyes at the agent's feet.
"You okay?"
James chuckled, letting out a soft 'ouch' with the tight hug.
"Watch the ribs, birdie . . . They're a little bruised."
He spoke playfully, gently caressing his hair.
"What smell ?"
He blushed out of happiness, smiling at pappa. Upon noticing he invited Laurie to sit by his side, the young man approached and adjusted himself on the couch.
As he listened to his father, Laurie's smile grew wider. He was being spoiled. . . So, so much. . .
"Wow. . .

"And you did. Thank you so much."
Frank smiled at his son, gently ruffling his hair before sitting on the couch.
"Oh, I'll be fine. Three days without phonecalls and the stress of work will be amazing." +
"We wanted to surprise you."
Opening a wide smile, Laurie felt his cheeks warming up. . .His expression, however, assumed a surprised air as his pappa spoke of his day.
"Oh. . . A suspension, pappa, you'll be alright?"
He asked, pressing his own shirt with force.
+
"Pasta and apple pie ?! Is tis heaven ?"
He asked playfully, looking around before looking at his son in a smile.
"Oh, well . . . Yeah. I also wrecked a Porsche on the process, so I got a three day suspension. Should be bigger, but the captain couldn't care less, +
"I did, yeah! We made pasta for dinner and there's apple pie in the oven too"
Laurie chuckled, beaming upon being called birdie by his father - the man he loved the most in the whole world.
"How was your day? Did you arrest someone today?"
The beautiful sight made Laurie beam instantly. He knew it was a rare find - so, in amazement, the young man looked at the cover, mouth half open.
"Oh, sir. . . You shouldn't. . ."

boiled, Laurie observed Ed cutting the cake quietly, as if growing up courage to speak.
"Can I ask you something personal?"
He muttered, his fingers curling up the fabric of his sweater.
Ed's guiding hand felt protective, safe. Laurie didn't minded him touching his skin - Ed was one of the few people allowed to do so.
Smiling at his nice words, Laurie started his task by taking cups off the cupboards and starting the kettle. While the water

Ed knew how it was for Laurie and looking into eyes and it was all right โโโ in a smile, he held the young man's hand, walking by his side towards the kitchen.
โOh, all your teas are the best, kid.โ
He spoke in a throaty chuckle, approaching the table to cut two nice pieces โ
Another soft smile appeared as Laurie felt more at ease still, he couldn't look Ed directly at his eye. He made him feel relaxed. . . Feel like himself.
Giggling at his nice words, Laurie nodded and offered him a hand, wanting to guide him towards the kitchen.

Waving a hand dismissively, Ed smiled, not wanting to worry him.
โIt's okay, it's okay.โ
He spoke softly, gently touching his arm.
โYeah, that's how people are with what they can't understand โ it scares them. Makes them angry.โ
Ed spoke calmly, admiring him in a smile. โ
