The State of 875 and ARMY from a PR pro (who leads a media team for a global corporation): (sorry this is a long one)

I do these every now and then because it’s easy to get stuck in the bubble of twt and the kpop industry mindset when there’s a whole world outside that.

From a business standpoint, corporations look at:

- Customer response (sales/streams from ARMY). Always most impt.
- Industry standards and trends (charts, awards, etc).
- Brand deals/interest (these contracts are extremely lucrative and demonstrate reputational strength)
- Media coverage (more below)
- Social media/blogs/forums (always last bc this always skews negative for just about every single brand on earth due to how people tend to use public forums).

Situational analysis: 875 is on hiatus, which makes them vulnerable since they aren’t active and a good chunk of fans have checked out temporarily. Enemies have continued to attack through corporate sabotage, media misinformation, boosting negative SNS/forum posts, and through political connections, etc.

Despite all that, 875 solo works have out performed a lot of successful groups and int’l top acts both in sales, streams, and on charts. They haven’t put out a group album in two years yet are still on lists for album sales/streams. They continue to be nominated and win multiple awards (despite not attending nor performing). They are the most trending name at every fashion event they attend as a brand ambassador. Look how many brand deals Jin has and just imagine the list he had to turn down. All this success while the number of active ARMYs is lower is impressive (please pat yourself on the back).

Let’s talk about media and SNS/forums:
Due to 875’s success, they’ve always been attacked. Labels around the world and fandoms want them gone. From the beginning. They can’t replicate their talent so they go after their reputation to try and break up the thing that matters most: ARMY. The things they have been accused of is too long to list here and yet every single time, it’s been disproven and ARMY is still loyal. Because we see through it.

This time, while they are most vulnerable, is our strongest test ever bc there are fewer of us to fight back and support. We have to remember that no matter what we see in the media and online, we have to be smart and not so reactive. I guarantee you Hybe’s PR, crisis, and legal teams have been working 24/7 behind the scenes, which is where a majority of that work is done. We don’t want our enemies to see us coming. There’s a process to holding people accountable. If you’re not sure about the truth of something, don’t share it, don’t comment on it. Just focus on sharing positive content. Our voices have to be louder than theirs, while not giving them engagement and being so reactive to every clickbait headline or post from some rando with five followers.

Any other group would have crumbled under just one of the accusations and negative PR that have come up but 875 and ARMYs position is so strong, it hasn’t been tainted. And when they all come back, it will be stronger than ever (for all seven). And that’s due to ARMY’s unwavering support.

You may not think your individual streams or sales matter. Or your vote or donation to a supportive banner or truck ad makes a difference, but it’s everything. It’s the most important thing. Media coverage is so biased and misinformed and Hybe’s PR (and the tannies, who grew up in front of a camera) is well aware of that. They are paying attention mostly to sales and streams. So keep it up ARMY. You matter more than ever.
