@AmieHeartsBeer Right like there’s no inbetween. It’s routine or bust.
Daycare is on abbreviated schedule next week too and I’m not gonna make it i swear.
Moms how are we doing? Everyone around me is like — oh I love this lounge time between Christmas and New Years and I’m about to rip my hair out between the abbreviated daycare hrs, pure exhaustion from the holidays, and the sprint to get shit done before going back to work.
@AmieHeartsBeer Probably not helpful but I did take off this week and I’m overwhelmed. There’s so much I’ve neglected that suddenly feels really important to get done.
And this change in routine is not making for a happy kid.
slightly controversial take as a childcare provider and daycare worker of 20 years… she’s not wrong, because most parents work this week and those who aren’t probably desperately need to get stuff done before they do go back.
but the problem is not with the parents or kids. it’s because daycare admin and c levels CHRONICALLY and grossly understaff and underpay.
the mental switch from “why am i not enough?” to “it’s strange that there are people in my life that make me feel that i need to prove my worth to them” is so drastic and sudden tbh.
@StasiaBrew The economics of neighborhood businesses doesn’t shake out and it’s not just because property is sitting vacant and property owners are holding out to sell to developers.
We’re lacking programs to restore properties in neighborhoods. No-collateral loan programs for sm biz.
Look I want bike lanes as much as the next person but the conversation should start at reducing the need to travel long distances.
Commercial space should be occupied or forfeited.
@simsimmaaz Wow I just hit full toddler mom mode reading this.
My first thought — yes, absolutely agree.
Second thought — making these illegal will never work. How do we divert their attention and replace this toy with another, safer toy?
@prntgdcolonized Earplugs have helped me tremendously. Ever since my kid was born, it’s like my ears are always ON.
Now that he’s a toddler, they help me ease into the day. I can still hear him wake up but they stay in until my senses have had a moment to adjust to reality.
