The 26 lives stolen at Sandy Hook Elementary School should still be here today.
11 years ago, 20 children and six adults were stolen from us at Sandy Hook Elementary School.
No matter how many years pass, my heart breaks for Newtown.
Today and always we remember those who should still be with us—and honor them by building a future free of gun violence.
Since Sandy Hook, states passed over 620 gun safety laws and for the first time in 26 years, Congress passed major gun safety legislation.
So don't let anyone tell you that nothing has changed.
An immeasurable number of lives have been saved with the reforms you’ve pushed for.
After the Parkland school shooting Alex was posthumously admitted into @UCONN@UCONNband. I was so touched to receive this @AEPI composite with Alex in the middle from @AEPIuconn ❤️

Today, August 4, is the birthday of Joaquin “Guac” Oliver. He should be 23 but died at Marjorie Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, at 17. The aspiring writer and poet was shot four times in the hallway outside his creative writing class, dying at the scene.
