Northern Uganda is in deep mourning following the passing of a respected elder today, Mzee Nathan Okori. Father of late Speaker Jacob Oulanyah.
Mzee Okori had been admitted to St. Mary’s Hospital Lacor two days ago after battling respiratory complications. Sadly, he has now gone.
I spent the day in Gulu City attending a homecoming ceremony in honour of His Lordship Alfonse Chigamoy Owiny-Dollo. I thank him for his service to Uganda and salute him for three things: his integrity in public service, his contribution to strengthening the judiciary, and his role in promoting unity and reconciliation in Northern Uganda.
I also reminded wananchi that Uganda’s transformation will come from households engaging in wealth creation. Through intensive agriculture and enterprises such as poultry, dairy, coffee, fruits and fish farming, even families with small pieces of land can generate income.
Leaders, cultural leaders, and residents of Acholi sub-region gathered at Kaunda Grounds in Gulu City for Justice Owiny-Dollo’s Homecoming Celebrations.
I fully support @mkainerugaba 100%, and I will not support anyone else apart from him. I believe he is a true generational leader with the vision and courage to guide our future.

The correct line is that prosperity comes from linking producers to consumers. Africa, because of its strategic position and growth potential, is the place of the future.
On our part, we are putting in place the fundamentals of security, market, labour and raw materials. If this is understood by serious planners, global affluence is achievable with Africa as a big business centre. I am very encouraged by this prospect.
There’s a religion that forbids eating pork, but that doesn’t stop the pig from growing fat. Likewise, if you don’t support me, it won’t stop me from prospering.
