It’s #WorldChildrensDay.
Every child deserves a long and healthy life and that includes a right to:
🩺 Health
🍴 Nutritious food to eat
🌳 Safe, clean and secure environments
✏️ Education and early learning
🧸 Protection from harm
#HealthForAll
This outbreak can be stopped, and every child can be prevented from being paralyzed if we improve routine immunization and reach all "unreached" children with a drop of polio virus. We can do it and "Make Polio History" forever in this country.
#WorldPolioDay, #EndPolioNow
.@MoH_Somalia & @WHOSom commemorate #WorldBreastfeedingWeek. This year's theme, "Let’s make breastfeeding and work, work," focuses on workplace barriers that prevent women from breastfeeding or cause them to stop breastfeeding earlier than recommended.

The 63 stabilization centers that WHO is supporting in #Somalia has been the lifeline for survival of SAM children with medical complications in 2022. Though these SCs treated 25,000 newly admitted children almost the double than in 2021, the cure rate of these children was over 85% meaning that 85% of all these SAM children with medical complications admitted in these SCs received quality treatment and returned home healthy and happy. Early admission of these children to these SCs referred by our community health workers and proper treatment and care by trained healthcare workers have saved their lives. Thank you @ECHO_CESAfrica and @eu_echo for saving the lives of thousands of these children trapped in this enduring crisis and conflict for no fault of their own. #SavingTheVulnerable
We thank @FCDOGovUK and @UKinSomalia for their support to the stabilization centers set up across #Somalia for care of severely acute malnourished children with medical complications. Despite a surge in number, lives of these children who ever were able to seek care in these SCs were saved. The cure rate was over 95%. #Together we have been able to push back famine and dire health consequences of famine. We continue to scale up but need sustained funding to save the lives of these innocent children who are trapped in the vicious cycle of recurrent climate shocks for no fault of theirs. #SavetheVulnerable

Immunization for all can not be achieved without having a skilled, hardworking, dedicated, and true humanitarian workforce. Thousands of our vaccinators are the backbone of our health system. In this #WorldImmunizationWeek we pay our respects to all of our frontline vaccinators.
My heartfelt thanks to the authors for contributing to this nice piece of knowledge coming out of a country where such information are critical to progress on future epidemic and pandemic readiness and response. The HCWs need to be protected in any epidemics and pandemics for continuity of delivery of essential health care. Findings from such study will enable the countries to understand the barriers to improved uptake. We can only be as strong as our weakest links. @Abdulrazakibra

Happy #WorldHealthDay to thousands of our staff who are working tirelessly in #Somalia and in other testing and challenging conditions to deliver on our promises to ensure #HealthForAll . Happy #WHD2023#WHO75
Immediate funding is needed now in Somalia to #FightFamine, as well as investment in long-term solutions to support economic development and climate adaptation.
It's about saving lives now, and building a better future.
Excited about Monday's class on Innovating Health Policy and Systems @Uni_of_Essex, as we'll host @mamun567. His talk is key not only as a real case of innovation in #Somalia but also for students to see his inspiring work in #globalhealth that leads to success in tough condition
These deaths are preventable. Improving access to health and nutrition care for the marginalizing communities and stepping up our collective actions can prevent these deaths. These are our wake up calls. Our actions will make difference between life and death in these people.
